Wicked Ironing

It has only been through reading other posts and blogs, where I have found myself nodding along to various parenting crimes, that I have realised that I too am part of the ‘bad mothers club’. Wicked Wednesdays over at Brummymummyof2 sums this up nicely as real mothers share something wicked from the past week.

wicked wednesdays
I hate ironing, I never do any as I go by the belief system that body heat will make the creases drop out. Mostly I wear leggings and vest tops so this works in my favour! Mr F irons his own shirts bless him (although why shouldn’t he? They are his shirts!!) but besides that the iron gathers dust and rust in the understairs cupboard.

Today I decided to clean the net curtains – no I am not 80 years old, the are voiles or some such, they keep my nosey neighbours at bay! Little G gets very excited whenever I get the ironing board out, she loves to mimic and especially loves cleaning-  I have no idea where she gets it from. I think it is probably a similar scenario to Matilda, parents hate learning so she becomes a child genius. I hate cleaning and therefore produce a child with OCD!

So off she trots to get her little ironing board and play iron. I set about ironing the nets and she grabs herself one to iron. There we are, happily ironing when I take the last net.

“Mummy I need that net!”
“Well I need to get it ironed, you iron daddy’s shirt”

Cue TOTAL MELTDOWN.

I was in no mood to be putting up with such nonsense so I ignored her.  She hates being ignored and so she took herself off to the conservatory to cry on her own- loudly. I carried on with the net and moved onto his shirts, calling out to her that she was being rather loud and the neighbours probably wouldn’t appreciate it. After a while she came out and informed me that she had calmed down. Jolly good I thought and offered her the last shirt. I was bored of ironing anyway.

I could see she was getting annoyed at the creases and she suddenly burst into tears again sobbing that she needed my iron.
“No, you might melt your skin off” (that didn’t go down well!) Cue more screams from her as she stood there like a complete psycho. I told her to take herself off to cry where Baby L wouldn’t be disturbed (it had taken me an hour to settle her!) so off she went to the conservatory again.

Yes I took a photo, probably makes me a terrible parent but I wanted her to see what a goon she looked!
She looks absolutely heart broken. If I am honest it just makes me laugh. All that fuss over ironing!! Silly girl. In a few years she will be hating it just as much as me!

One for her wedding day I reckon 'you are marrying someone who loves to iron!'

I think you should keep this picture to show her when she's older. I bet she won't be so upset at not getting to do the ironing then! #wickedwednesdays

Defo keeping it! I do project life (like a photo journal thing) and I print all my photos out for that. :-)
