The Liebster Award

I am so excited to be writing this post! Since I started blogging back in May I have noticed other bloggers being nominated and hoped that one day somebody would nominate me. Last week the lovely Jenna over at Tinyfootsteps tagged me in her Liebster Award post- big hugs to her as I was feeling a bit down about my blog and she totally made my day!

So what is a Liebster Award?
Liebster is a German word and means sweetest, kindest, dearest, beloved, lovely, kind, pleasant, valued, cute, endearing and welcome. It is given to up and coming bloggers, working similarly to a chain letter so that their blog may get discovered and they themselves will discover new blogs. Blogging is about building a community and the award is a great way to get the word out and share the love within the blogging community.
Here are the rules:
Thank the blogger who nominated you
Answer the 11 questions given to you
Nominate other bloggers with less than 500 followers whose blogs you love
Post 11 questions for your nominees to answer
So here are the questions and my answers, as set by Jenna:
Q1: Would you say that you’re a superstitious person?
Very! I always throw salt over my shoulder, I will not walk under a ladder and I always make a wish if I find an eyelash on my cheek. The worst one for me is seeing a Magpie! I will always salute a lone Magpie and wish his family well!! All silly I know but I cannot help it.
Q2: What and where was the best meal you’ve ever had?
We used to live just outside of St Albans. There is a lovely restaurant there called Lussmanns that Mr F and I went to a few years back before we had the girls. I cannot remember what I had but the bit I liked about it was the portion size. So many times you go somewhere and you either end up with massive portions and you are too stuffed for dessert, or you get pigeon sized portions that leave you needing a cheeky McDonalds on the way home! Whoever decided upon their portion sizes got it just right as I was able to manage a starter, main and dessert and I felt sufficiently full as I left. The food was great too of course and I would definitely recommend it to anyone.
Q3: Who was the last person to send you a text message? (and if you don’t mind sharing, what was it about?)
The last person to text me was my mum. I had let her know we had arrived safely in Leeds after a horrendous journey up the A1. I tell you I have never known weather like it! The roads were so flooded water was spraying out of the drains!! She replied saying she was glad we were there and also to congratulate Mr F on passing his final exam in his accountancy degree. He has been worrying that he had failed as he was ill when he did the exam back in June. I don’t know how he has done it, 6 years and 14 exams along side his job. I can barely brush my hair!!
Q4: We’re hanging out at a bar and it’s my round- what’s yer tipple?
If you had asked me a few months ago I would have said white wine. However, after a recent hen do I have rediscovered vodka and coke. I always used to drink vodka while I was at uni and I never suffered with hangovers. For whatever reason I switched to wine and always have horrendous hangovers- no more I tell you, no more!!!!
Q5: How has motherhood changed you?
Hmm, this is a toughy. I had already grown up and swapped my heels for slippers! So in that respect actually my life didn’t change that much. I would say having children enhanced my life rather than changing it. Me as a person though, I have become braver and more confident. As a teenager I was bullied and self confidence was zero, I didn’t have the strength or self belief to stand up to people. However, I would walk through fire for my girls and having them has given me some sort of super power and I feel like nobody can ever hurt me again.
Q6: What is your fondest childhood memory?
There are 8 years between me and my sister, I cannot really remember life before she was born. All my memories include her, my fondest memory being the day she was born. I had longed for a sister and I can remember my dad coming to fetch me from my friend’s house. I had waited all day to hear news as my mum had gone into labour at midnight. We went straight to the hospital and there she was, the most precious thing I had ever seen. It was like all my Christmases had come at once.
Q7: Which band/ artist have you been listening to the most lately?
Well, being at home with the kids I don’t get to listen to the radio much- I really should try and get music into our days more. So my only source of music comes from journeys in the car or when Mr F plays music on his phone. Unfortunately for me, he goes through fads. A few years back I must have listened to Katy B’s ‘Katy on a mission’ approximately a bazillion times!! So what is he listening to at the moment? Ed Sheeran’s album ‘X’. I used to quite like Ed Sheeran but I absolutely cannot stand him now after hearing the same 16 songs 20’000 times!!
Q8: Growing up, who was your idol?
Britney Spears! Absolutely loved her! Shame she went a bit crazy eh? I had all her albums and used to do sit-ups religiously to have a toned stomach like hers. To my mum’s horror I even got my belly button pierced when I was 17 to be like her. I still have it now, probably should take it out as I most certainly do not have a flat stomach and no longer wear crop tops (although I notice they are back in fashion now! yuk!)
Q9: What’s the kindest thing a stranger has ever done for you?
I love it when people show a little bit of kindness. Last week I asked someone if they had change for a £1 for the carpark. The lady said she didn’t have change but I was welcome to have her ticket as there was plenty of time left. I know that’s a pretty lame one but I cannot think of anything else.
Q10: Do your friends and family know about your blog? What do they think of it?
My friends and family have been really supportive about it all. I get a little bit shy when they say they have read a post. I don’t mind strangers reading it but I dunno, people I actually know reading it and then talking to me about it makes me blush!
Q11: Tell us an interesting fact about yourself that your blog readers probably don’t know.
Umm, I have mentioned in the past that I am a teacher but what many people don’t know is that I also have a degree in Zoology/ Marine Zoology. So many people look at me bemused when I say that. A close friend (you know you you are!) once asked me if it was the study of zoos- oh how we laughed!! If you don’t know what it is it is the study of animals, of land and sea. That is how I met Mr F actually, he loved it while I spent most lectures catching up on sleep!!
Here are my 11 questions:
Q1: If you were a biscuit what biscuit would you be?
Q2: What was the last (non-kiddie) movie you watched?
Q3: Have you ever broken a bone? How did you do it?
Q4: What does a normal day in your life look like?
Q5: What TV program represents your childhood?
Q6: What has blogging taught you?
Q7: Do you cook? If so what is your signature dish?
Q8: Who was the last person to make you laugh? Why?
Q9: What is the naughtiest thing you have ever done?
Q10: If you could go anywhere in the world where would it be?
Q11: What is your dream?

Thinking of questions is harder than you think! My brain hurts! I am going to nominate Cuddles & Muddles & Muddy Puddles, Mama and Baby Bear and Mummy on a Budget . I really enjoy their blogs so go take a look!
