There’s no such thing as a Gruffalo…

On Sunday we went on a drive to Wendover Woods to their Gruffalo trail. I am not sure who was more excited – me or Little G (probably me!!) If you haven’t heard of the Gruffalo trails they are there to celebrate the 15 year anniversary of the Gruffalo being released.

We put on our wellies and the girls’ rain suits and set off to find the Gruffalo. Thankfully I had the sense to take Baby L in a sling as there was no way a buggy could have coped with the muddy bogs we came across!

There were little logs along the way with various questions to keep the kids thinking and interested along the way. Little G loves anything that involves learning so we was interested to know the answer to each nature question.

About 5 minutes into the walk she decided she was cold and tired (not sure who she is related to….. cough cough…) and so Mr F carried her for most of the way!

Along the trail there were various characters hanging from the trees which she was very excited to spot! All building the suspense to the big reveal! Gruffalo trail, Wendover woods

As we turned a corner we could see him! Woo hoo!! Gorgeous view too!

Now she was absolutely petrified when we got up close and refused to get down from daddy’s shoulders for a photo. She was quite happy with her cuddly version!

The Gruffalo

I did manage to convince her to have a group photo although sadly my brother in law took it on his phone and it you can barely see us! Another strike against the iphone for me! Not like my Nokia which takes crystal clear photos!!

After the walk we went to the park in the woods which had some lovely wooden musical instruments which G was impressed by.

And of course the obligatory photo of the two of them on the swings! L is always watching her big sister. Love the two of them together.

If you haven’t been to find the Gruffalo yet I can recommend it as it is a lovely day out for the family. They will be there until February so go find your nearest one on the Forestry Commission website.

It was fun, although I think I was more excited than G who moaned the whole way. And then this morning asks 'can we go again?' Nooooooo!
