Siblings: June

I really love reflecting on the relationship between my girls. Joining in with this series makes me sit and take notice more than I would otherwise, spotting little signals of love between them and the irks they have with each other. I normally write my posts when they are in bed but I am so tired today that I am writing this a little before their bedtime (in the hope that I can go to bed at the same time as them). So as I am writing this they are snuggled up next to me, Little G reading her new school book to LJ – something about a naughty monkey making too much noise.

The two of them are well and truly inseparable now and I just love it. It does mean that LJ is at a loss when G is at school but actually it makes me happy to know that in a few months she will be joined by another sibling during the day. Not that he will do much at all but it will shift her focus from missing her big sister. She already loves her brother and I cannot wait to see how that relationship develops over the months and years. Both of them are going to be the best big sisters though, I have no doubt about that.

Normally I try and take specific photos for this series but time is racing by so quickly that I didn’t know if we would get a chance. Not that these have been used anywhere else mind you, but they are a bit ‘quick go stand next to your sister’  – you can still see the love between them though, so all is not lost haha! They were taken on Sunday at a street party around the corner to us, in between thunderstorms and downpours. We’ve never been to a street party before and so we were all excited to see what it would be like and were not disappointed – such community spirit!

I dressed the girls in red, white and blue for the occasion – although Mr F pointed out that their outfits are in fact French! Gorgeous aren’t they? They are from Petit Bateau and I love that they are matchy but not matchy- I know it isn’t for everyone but it always makes me smile (I just wish they made them in my size haha!!).

I mentioned last month that they are beginning to fight a little and that has continued into this month. Generally I leave them to it though as I know how much it used to annoy me when my sister would run to our mum and tell tales – leaving me in trouble for never doing anything! So I let them work things out for themselves and it always works out fine – they just take turns in being the bossy boots!

The best thing to come out of their friendship over the last couple of months is the fact that LJ is now talking – a lot! I wrote all about the progress she has made the other day, even writing it down I couldn’t believe how far she has come. It is all down to her sister – I think she will be a teacher when she grows up!

So there is just 1 or 2 of these left before baby boy joins us, where is the time going?
