When you become a parent, adjusting to the volume of baby/ child related items that come along with having a baby takes some getting used to. Gone are the days of having a nice tidy home – toys are strewn all over the place while they are awake and even when they are tidied away they take up so much room.
The toys in our house belong in two places, our conservatory (i.e. the playroom) and the girls’ rooms. They still manage to migrate into every other room of the house though but as a general rule, the living room is our space. We have always had a small basket of toys in the living room but it has just become a dumping ground. So, I have decided to embrace the fact that I do in fact have children and make a space for them within the living room.
I may have mentioned that I bagged myself an IKEA table for £5 the other day. I decided to use it to make a little area for the girls. First job though was to sort out the toy box. Once the toys were narrowed down to those that Little L will play with independently I put the table in place.
Last week we went to Dunelm Mill to buy some material to use as a table cloth. I chose a wipe-down fabric so we can use it for painting and other crafts.
With the table cloth in place I put a pot of crayons on the table, I will make sure there is fresh paper on the table each day so they can both help themselves. When Little L is napping Little G can get out the glitter and glue and do more adventurous crafting but I cannot leave that out full time!
Where do your children play?
