We love being Parragon Book Buddies and love to show you the books each month. This month is all about Halloween and we were sent a book called ‘Pumpkins Pumpkins Everywhere’ which is, as you can guess, all about pumpkins! It is aimed at younger kids and follows characters on a night out trick or treating.
The book has simple text and describes various pumpkins.
pumpkin happy, pumpkin sad, pumpkin cheeky, pumpkin mad
I really liked the illustrations, many of the pages were set in the dark but each page was colourful and bright so it didn’t make it at all scary.
It is a nice book, but for us we found it would be more suitable for the younger end of the age bracket, almost for those who are just out of baby books. Little G prefers longer stories now, being able to follow a story with a real beginning middle and end. It would be perfect in hardback so LJ could read the book without fear of ripping pages.
If you are looking for a simple book, one that children can possible learn to use as a story to read (tell) to you then it would be perfect. The pictures match the type of pumpkin being described and so it is a great repetitive story and would become a favourite to bring out each October.
Do you have any favourite books for Halloween?
