So way back when, I decided to get fit and got myself a Fitbit. Then life happened and Mr F stole my Fitbit and I ate all the pies.
Well no more.
It has got to the point now where I am ready to make a change, ready to properly embrace exercise as a necessary part of keeping fit and healthy. I will admit, I am the laziest person in the world and if given the choice I will always choose being idle over getting active. But my jeans are getting too tight and I refuse to buy a pair in the next size up.
So what is my plan?
Well, inspired by a few people, I am going to start doing HIIT workouts – have you heard of them? Part of my issue (besides laziness) has been that I can never find the time to do anything. I did go for runs but they just seemed to take over my whole evening and in the end I gave up on them entirely. So, starting next week, I am going to set my alarm for 6am and do a 20 minute session before anyone else gets up.
When I was at university I used to do workout dvds – they were great actually and if I don’t get on with the HIIT program then I will definitely dig them out of storage. I am hopeful that I will stick with this though as 20 minutes is totally achievable isn’t it? I mean I probably won’t last more than 5 minutes the first time I try but I am willing to give it the summer. I am hoping that by starting it now, I will be able to build up my stamina to be able to carry it on once the new term starts.
I have also bought myself another Fitbit and have been much more aware of my movements – lord I am so bad at getting my steps up! I have also been adding everything I am eating into the app – I eat a lot of calories!! They just add up don’t they? After watching a fab video from Molly Forbes I have been making sensible choices and making swaps to healthier options. I am starving most days haha but I know I need to just get past this little hurdle and then my stomach will start to shrink and be happy with a normal amount of food.
So, basically I am writing this to be accountable. I am starting the HIIT workout on Monday so that I can collapse in a heap afterwards and I will keep you updated on my progress each week of the summer holidays.
Wish me luck!

Best of luck!! Looking forward to reading update posts on how it's going! Of course, with all the work you're doing with your home, I am SURE those count as workouts...no? ;)

Good for you! You've inspired me to do the same! HIIT has some good evidence to back it up and its quick and efficient. Just be very aware of your form (alignment etc) to make sure that you don't end up injuring yourself. FitnessBlender have some good youtube videos https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tbbZBtdd20U
Regarding general movement and exercise, thinking about exercise at nourishment (which it is) has changed everything for me. I try to get a wide range and balance of movements every day. Also: all my computer work is done at a standing desk.
Good Luck and enjoy the journey :)
