Girls day out at Go Ape | Wendover Woods - What Katy Said

Girls day out at Go Ape | Wendover Woods

I have an irrational fear of heights.

I also hate to be beaten.

Last week, I was kindly invited along to my local Go Ape and I knew that it was something that I needed to do.

I needed to conquer my fear.

It was actually meant to be a day-date with Mr F – but as you may know, he was in the hospital. So my day-date turned into a girlie day out with my sister.

I don’t get to spend enough time with her so it was a blessing in disguise in the end.

We headed off to Wendover Woods, somewhere I have been before for the Gruffalo Trail a few years ago.

All smiles before we started…

Our guide, Andrew, was fantastic and got us harnessed up and ready. He walked us through all of the safety features and made sure we were comfortable with everything before we set off.

At this point I decided that I needed to pretend I was a brave person, so I volunteered to be the first to go! This photo is of me about 3 feet off the ground so I was quite happy there!

This one is at about 20 feet… still smiling though as it was the most fun I have had in absolutely ages!

Once you are up there, you are so busy trying to get from one side to the other that you don’t have chance to stop and think about being high up.

Knowing you are attached at all times helps too of course!

This one was my favourite as it actually meant a bit of a sit down haha! The strength you need in your arms is more than I have, so I have really felt it the last few days. I definitely need to work on building some more muscle!

I think my face says it all in this photo…

This was a Tarzan swing that dropped you down first before swinging you into a giant net.

Again, I pretended I was fine..

.. and I was!

Each course (and there were 5 in total) ended with a zip-wire. This was where I struggled the most – not because of the height…

.. but because of my inability to land!

My sister and I were hysterical all of the way through – I don’t think I have laughed so much in a long long time! It was exactly what I needed!

I completed all 5 courses and enjoyed every last bit of it – I would definitely do it again and would recommend it to anyone. If you are looking to do something a bit different, for a day-date or fun with friends, then go see where your nearest Go Ape is and give it a try!

I was given complimentary entry. All words and thoughts are my own.

We love Go Ape – Our nearest is at Delamere Forest, and it’s such a fun day out for all the family!
