Well I can safely say this has been one of the best challenges I have done – the fact I have completed it is a miracle! It has been challenging at times but I hand on heart say I have changed my ways. Seven weeks ago I was so dehydrated, tired all of the time and had very dry skin. Seven weeks on I am a changed person, I now drink my allowance and more!
So how was it?
I have been stuck in my ways for years and years, going through a whole day with maybe one drink. I never felt thirsty unless it was in the peak of summer- I guess my body had just adjusted to the lack of hydration. When I started this challenge 7 weeks ago I really struggled, I couldn’t drink my daily allowance- I physically couldn’t handle that much water.
8 glasses may not seem that much, but when you are used to a maximum of 1 glass a day it can be a real effort to increase it by such an amount. To make it worse, my body was not reacting well. I had splitting headaches by the end of every day- and that was only after 4 or 5 glasses! Research told me my body was having to cope with the new amount and the electrolytes were imbalanced. Only perseverance would cure me!
I am a very visual person and I knew I needed something to help me keep on track, so when I saw these amazing bottles from Nativ I knew I needed one! Having the times down the side of the bottle was so helpful and breaking it into hourly amounts made it much more manageable. It no longer felt like a chore and I was able to gradually increase the amount so my body could adjust bit by bit.
By week 4 I was hitting my daily allowance and feeling so much better! I was feeling more awake and sleeping better each night. The main improvement has been that of my skin. I always suffer terribly with dry skin, especially during the colder months, but my skin is smoother that it has ever been. My lips especially are noticeably smoother- no more need for a lip balm!
So what of the wrinkles?
Hmm, well they are still there. But maybe I will have slowed down the ageing process by changing my ways for good. I will continue to take my daily Perfect7 vitamin supplement from Seven Seas too as I know that it gives me everything I need- especially as I do not have the most varied of diets. I have got into a good habit of taking them at breakfast time now and also my UP2 has an alert to remind me should I forget.
The whole process has made me take a long hard look at my health and my habits. I used to get pain in my kidneys every now and then- my body telling me I was doing myself harm. Drinking water seems to have reset my body though and now I have that thirst sensation! My body is finally able to let me know when it is time to drink, although I am still loving using my water bottle every day.
If you don’t drink your daily allowance each day then I would definitely recommend taking up the challenge. I guarantee you will notice results too!
