Making Our Own Yoghurt

I have always been one for making my own meals from scratch, I like knowing exactly what has gone in to each meal. Having children with allergies means I have to be extra careful and always check packets. The more I have seen ingredients list after ingredients list the more I want to try and make everything myself.

Now you may have seen on my Instagram account that I am a little bit obsessed by red accessories in my kitchen so when I saw the red EasiYo yoghurt maker I was more than excited to give it a whirl! The unit it just so gorgeous I actually keep it out on display- cannot get enough of the red!

The little pot has a line on it to show you how much water to add and then you tip in the sachet. Give it a shake, top it up to just below the rim, shake again and voila!

Leave it for 8-12 hours and it will be ready. You can see the colour of the yoghurt as soon as you shake it, I assume leaving it in the hot water activates the enzymes necessary to get it to yoghurt consistency.

So how did it taste? One word- delicious!!! I am a big fan of yoghurt anyway but this was really yummy. Little G loved it too and we are looking forward to trying other flavours! The whole process was easy and I know that the ingredients are pure- no stabilisers, emulsifiers, artificial colouring or preservatives! All of their sachets are gluten and wheat free too.

Have you ever made your own yoghurt?

I used to make yoghurt all the time until the kids decided dairy and nursing didn't mix. It's really easy, you don't even need a kit, just milk and a dollop of existing yoghurt if you want to be completely certain about the ingredients. And yes the taste is a million miles away from shop bought!
