Photo Diary: A Trip To The Park

Isn’t it nice to be able to go out and not worry about gloves? I actually walked out of the house today and felt as though spring might be on its way. With the US having 40 inches of snow it does feel like we may get some of their weather in the next few weeks but for now I am happy in my spring is near bubble.

I am one to hibernate when it is cold, which means we aren’t great at getting out of the house for many walks during the winter months. I would just rather snuggle on the sofa and watch a dvd, wouldn’t you? With the slightly warmer weather we had at the weekend though, we ventured out for a trip to one of the local parks. It is a really nice park, with a long avenue to stroll along – be lovely if we had a dog. Not that I want a dog right now, the idea of it doing its business in the garden for me to have to deal with is enough to turn me right off. I digress…

There is something about walking down an avenue in the sunshine that leaves me feeling completely happy with life. With my girls chattering about nothing in particular and Mr F getting completely mesmerised by the local football team playing a game in the field next to us, I walked along with a huge smile on my face. All I ever wanted growing up was to have a little family of my own, a husband who loves me and children to adore. There were so many times as a teen when I felt as though I would never get my wish but here I am, completely happy with my lot in life.

Little G’s favourite thing about this park in particular is the fact that you have to cross a bridge to get to it- with the local river running underneath. Probably not the safest place to build a park but it is great for playing Pooh Sticks. I used to play it as a child and it is so lovely to see that such a simple game is still enough for the kids of today.

Of course all LJ ever wants to do is go on the swings. She laughs manically the whole time and always wants to go higher.

It may be starting to warm up but it is still cold enough that I need my gorgeous Trespass coat. My friend complimented me on it today actually and I really do feel smart wearing it. My favourite thing about it is the fact it is waterproof but doesn’t look waterproof, you know? Check out their women’s waterproof jackets for the perfect mummy coat!

On the way home we stopped of at the supermarket to get a French stick and a platter of meats- it is our absolute favourite thing to have on a Saturday lunchtime, a little bit of a tradition nowadays.
