Why We Love Our Lumie Clock

Mornings are difficult aren’t they? Mondays especially, you need to muster the energy to peel yourself out of bed but your body clock is telling you to shut your eyes! I am very lucky that my girls like to sleep late, meaning I get to wake up naturally with the sunlight. However, Mr F wakes up before sunrise each morning and it normally takes him anything up to half an hour to actually get up!

Why you need a Lumie clock

I had heard of Lumie clocks but never thought to get one. They sound great though, a natural light wakes you up by slowly mimicking a sunrise. That way, your body believes it is daytime and means you are ready to get up at the right time- rather than snoozing and snoozing and snoozing…… you get the idea!

The features of the Lumie Bodyclock include:

  • 30-minute sunrise
  • 30-minute fading sunset
  • Dimmable lighting for use as a bedside light
  • Sun ray effect
  • Snooze feature
  • Optional alarm beep, power failure back-up

So how has Mr F been getting on?

I will hand over to Mr F now to talk you through his experience!

I have to say I noticed a difference immediately, I was a little apprehensive the first night as I didn’t think I would wake up in time so I set the optional beep alarm before I went to sleep. I didn’t need it though as I actually woke up 5 minutes before the alarm feeling wide awake and refreshed.

Normally I have to force myself to stay awake and have a play on my phone to wake myself up, this often takes a good half an hour and I end up running late or spending less time at the gym. The sunrise left me feeling quite wide awake and I just got up, no fuss.

DSC_0739For some reason my camera didn’t want to pick up the digits on the clock but it was actually showing the correct time of 13.00

I go to the gym every weekday morning, hence the early start, and it takes me a while to warm up and get going. Since using the clock each morning I have had much more energy and can throw myself into my sessions each morning.

So there we have it, a success!

I have noticed he isn’t spending so long getting out of bed each morning which means I can drift back to sleep sooner until the real sunrise. He is definitely more cheery of an evening too which is great, it sets him up for the day by waking him up naturally rather than interrupting a sleep cycle with a nasty alarm!

The only feature we haven’t tried yet is the sunset. I really like the idea though and want to start reading books again, so maybe this will be the push I need. Basically you set the light to on and then by activating the sunset the light will gradually fade over 30 minutes- helping you unwind at the end of the day! Such a great idea!

If you struggle to get up each morning or suffer with SAD (I definitely do in winter time!) then you need a Lumie clock!

Do you get up before sunrise?
