Today is the letter J and we are using jelly!! It is a messy one but the fun your children will have makes it totally worth it!
Preparation
I bought some cheap sachets of jelly mix from the supermarket, Asda had 3 for £1 so I bought 6. I made the jelly the day before I was due to do the activity, giving it plenty of time to set. It works out at 6 pints worth of jelly which sounds a lot but once you spread it out it is just the right amount.
I placed the bowl in the tuff spot and gave the girls a selection of utensils to play with. I dressed them in minimal clothing so they would be able to get messy without worrying about their clothes. I also put down a cheap shower curtain to contain the mess- got mine from poundland.
The Activity
Little G got straight in and started exploring but Little L was a hesitant, not knowing what was going on! I obviously need to do more messy play with her now she is more able to join in!
It wasn’t long until she has realised it was something she could eat! The spoons gave it away of course and she took great delight in scooping it up!
After a little while I tipped the jelly out completely so they could get properly stuck in!
Little G absolutely loves getting her hands dirty and so really enjoyed getting stuck in, this has not always been the case and she used to be a right fuss pot!
I love this photo, Little L got a bit freaked out by the mess. This is a recent development and she is like it at dinner time now too, needs her hands wiping every 5 seconds!!

They happily played for just over an hour, there was laughter and smiles from beginning to end (and full tummies!). Both had to be whisked to the bath to be rinsed off but that just added to the fun, sharing a bath and having a big splash around! Firstly - I love the shower curtain idea! I have table cloths from the poundshop but they're not like...fully plastic, just wipe clean and aren't really that great (they tear easily). So a cheapy shower curtain as a messy play barrier sounds perfect! Secondly - HOW MUCH FUN IS THIS? They look like they're having such a good time, and to keep them busy for over an hour is an achievement. I really want one of these trays - I've only recently heard of them, but seeing all the fun stuff you can do is making me want one so bad. Also. Jelly feet. ADORABLE! Ray, xx #SundayStars

That shower curtain is a couple of years old and never had a problem so definitely grab yourself one next time you are out. Take a look on the 'where to buy' page, I got mine from ebay xx

Looks messy BUT lots of fun!!!!! Yay :) WE did something similar a while ago and the twins LOVED it - although they needed a hot bath afterwards! Jess xx #sundaystars
