Inside: The Upside Down Challenge Review & Giveaway
We love playing games as a family and are always on the lookout for something new and exciting to play. There are always new games come on the market and often they don’t meet expectations but The upside Down Challenge game had us roaring with laughter from the start!
The Upside Down Challenge is simple… in theory. Complete a range of tasks such as drawing a house or writing your name, the challenge being that the world appears upside down and makes even the simplest tasks seem impossible!
At one point I was laughing so hard that I started to cry!

What is the Upside Down Challenge?
The Upside Down Challenge Game is fun for the whole family, with easier, more achievable tasks for younger players and slightly more difficult tasks for older or more skilled players.
Players take turns to wear the special glasses that turn the world upside down – making ordinary tasks near impossible because up becomes down, down becomes up and everything is totally confusing.
Complete tasks to win as many tokens as you can!
What’s in the box?

- Pair of Upside Down Glasses
- 32 drawing and action cards
- Instruction booklet for the game
- 1 explanation card for the different symbols
- 1 instruction booklet for action tasks
- 1 hourglass timer (20 seconds)
- 36 tokens
You also need: A pad of paper, an A4 piece of paper, cardboard toilet rolls, a pen, a teaspoon, plastic beakers and a bowl.
How do you play?
The game is suitable for ages 7+ but actually we played it with our 5 year old and it was fine – he just needed a little extra support understanding the aim of each task.

When it is your turn, you pick a card from the stack of challenge cards and tell everyone whether you are doing a drawing task or action task.
Drawing cards
If it is a drawing card, the player does not show the others what is on the card, but chooses one of the pictures to draw. Each drawing card is split into easier pictures (marked with a feather symbol) and harder pictures (marked with a dumbbell).
The drawing cards involve simple eye-hand coordinations but honestly, I was stumped just trying to take the lid off the pen let alone put pen to paper and draw something that vaguely resembled a shape!

You get 40 seconds (two turns of the sand timer) to draw your picture. If someone guesses the picture you each get a token.
Action cards
If it is an action card, the player turns it over for everyone to see. Each action card is numbered and you can refer to the Action Card Booklet for more information about the challenge you need to complete. The challenge cards, as with the drawing cards are split into easier and harder, shown by a feather or dumbbell.
Actions vary, from taking a cup of water and having to then pour water into a second cup. Sounds easy but trust me, it isn’t! All of the seem like achievable tasks but you quickly learn that your senses can be fooled and you end up doing everything wrong – much to the joy of the kids!
You get 20 seconds to complete the simple tasks and if you manage it, you win a token.

Aim of the game
The aim of the game is to be the first to win 5 tokens by completing ordinary tasks and drawing simple pictures…. while wearing the special glasses.
What we thought
Like I said, I laughed so hard I was crying – which made it even harder to see what I was doing. The kids loved completing the challenges but they also loved seeing their mum and dad making fools of themselves – it was just too funny!
The cards can become a little repetitive after a few plays, but of course, you can make up your own challenges once you get the hang of it to extend the fun even further.
If you are looking for a new way to spend family game night or a fun activity for birthday parties, grab your glasses and see if you can complete the Upside Down Challenge! It is a completely hilarious game!
