Taking Myself Seriously as a Blogger

This time 9 months ago I had never really heard about blogging. I knew that people ‘did blogs’ but didn’t have the faintest idea what was involved or that a wonderful community was out there! The last few days I have been taking a look back at my earliest posts- they were truly dreadful I can tell you!! However, the enthusiasm was there and is still going strong today.

In the past few months I have found my voice, I know where I want to go with my blog. I started so that I could help other people and I know now that this is where I am heading. My HappyDays linky, co hosted by the lovely Jenna, is one of my favourite posts to write but also I thoroughly enjoy reading about everyone’s weeks. We have received such lovely comments from the wonderful ladies that join in each week, such inspirational mothers sharing their happy moments with us!

This month sees the first in my new Real Mums post go live (keep an eye out for that). Too often we think that others have a better life than us but we all need to realise that we are lucky to have our own lives and the grass is not always greener. Hopefully Real Mums will lift those rose tinted glasses and show that we are all fundamentally the same and need to celebrate each other rather than making comparisons.

Something I am really looking forward to is Britmums Live 2015. I started my blog a few weeks before last year’s event and my Twitter feed was full of Britmums talk for weeks! As soon as the earlybird tickets went on sale I booked my place- I want to be a part of it! I was lucky enough to get a ticket for Blogfest in November and if it is anything like the fun I had there then it is going to be amazing!!

Something I noticed is that it is very hard to place faces to names – people you speak to every day but do not recognise when you get the chance to see them face to face! So when Simoney Badges asked if I would like to have a personalised name badge I jumped at the chance!!! People will not have to struggle to see my name badge provided by the venue or wonder who I am.

How cool is the badge? I want to wear it every day just so people can see I own a blog! A few months ago I was quite shy about the fact I am a blogger, but no more. I will be wearing it with pride at Britmums later this year so keep an eye out for me if you are going. Don’t get me wrong, I will still be nervous as that is who I am but I will not be as shy as I used to be, I am Katy and I am a blogger!

I am proud of everything I have achieved so far and I would recommend starting a blog to anyone (I often do actually). I’m so excited for 2015, if it is anything like 2014 then it is going to be a blast!
