Inside: smol Eco-Friendly Products Review- Are they worth it? Contains affiliate links.
Over the last few years we have slowly made changes to they way we live in a bid to become more eco-conscious as a family. From taking shorter showers to switching to greener products, we are trying to do our bit for the planet.
smol have created a variety of everyday cleaning products that are made from vegan, cruelty free and eco-conscious ingredients and come in either plastic-free or refillable recycled plastic bottles. Not to mention the fact they have a much smaller carbon footprint than other cleaning brands.
This post will walk you through the products smol offers as well as sharing our experience as a family.

Who are smol?
smol was created by people who want to make planet-friendier products and want to make a difference.
Their products are free from animal products, earning them the Vegan Choice Award as well as the Leaping Bunny Award as they do not carry out any animal testing. They are also the only brand to receive the Marie Claire Sustainability Award for significant cuts to home cleaning carbon emissions.

As well as the products themselves, the packaging also deserves credit because they aim to be refillable, compostable, or recyclable. Their plastic-free laundry and dishwasher products were a world first and the remaining products come in refillable bottles made using recycled plastic.
Their card and paper comes from Forest Stewardship Council plantations, helping to protect habitats and biodiversity. All in a bid to reduce and reuse the plastic, paper and card packaging being created, to therefore reduce the environmental impact they have on the world.
How does smol work?
smol is a subscription service, offering household products from dishwasher tabs to laundry capsules, all with free delivery straight to your door. And because many of their products come in concentrate form, many of smol’s products can through your letter box in a slimline cardboard box.
This concentrated product also reduces the packaging required as well as reducing the volume and weight per item – meaning more can be transported at any given time to reduce the number of vehicles needed as a whole. Less waste and a reduced carbon footprint.

How does the free trial work
smol are so confident that you will love their products that they offer free trial packs on their products – you just have to cover the postage cost.
And if you love them after your free trial, use code WHATKATYSAID25 through this link to get 25% off the first time you place a full order.
Can I cancel after free trial?
The smol dashboard gives you complete control over your account. You can pause or cancel at any time.
smol products
Smol offer a range of household products now and are adding to the range all the time.

There range currently includes:
- biological laundry capsules
- non-biological laundry capsules
- dishwash tablets
- fabric softener
- multi purpose surface spray
- washing up liquid
My favourites are the washing up liquid as it lasts a long time and the surface cleaner as it smells so lovely.
Are smol as good as leading brands?
You would have to give them a try to determine this for yourself as everyone’s opinion is different. However, my experience with their products has been nothing but positive.
I have 3 kids under the age of 12, who regularly spill food down their clothes, come in from the garden muddy and leave food smeared on worktops when they make themselves breakfast. And smol manages to make everything clean again with no issue at all.

What is the price comparison?
Comparing like for like with big brands as best as we can, a 24 pack of smol laundry capsules is £5.80 – working out at 24p per capsule. Compare that to a 25 pack of Fairy Pods at £6.50 or a 25 pack of Ariel Pods at £6.50, both working out at 26p per capsule.
Yes you can buy in bulk or buy a supermarket own brand pack for less, but if you don’t have space for storing in bulk and you want to get a good quality product that is also good for the environment, smol is the best choice.
Quick comparisons
smol dishwasher tablets 30 pack is £6.30 compared to Finish Ultimate 30 pack at £9.00
A 6-pack of smol surface spray tablets costs £6.60, so £1.10 per refill (get the bottle for life as a free starter pack) compared to Dettol Multipurpose spray at £2.50 per bottle.
smol washing up liquid refills of 4 x 500ml are £8.00, so £2.00 per refill compared to Fairy 654ml at £2.00. Comparable in price but no returns scheme to recycle bottles and not an ethical formula.
Final thoughts
If you are wanting to do your bit in helping to reduce plastic waste and the environmental impact of the cleaning products you use, then turning to sustainable brands like smol is a great way to get started. Their products still have the high performance that we expect but they don’t compromise on their ethics to achieve it.
Small changes can make big differences in the long run and that will only ever be a good thing.
