Siblings In October

I have always known that my girls share a close bond. From the moment we told Little G she was going to be a sister I knew that she was in love. She told me I was having a girl when everyone said it would be a boy, she helped me get everything ready for her arrival and was the best big sister anyone could hope for.

LJ has always loved her sister, she has always been there and a huge part of her every day life. Her first smile was reserved for her, as was her first laugh. A few months ago she finally said her first word- Little G’s name. So I have always known they share a bond, a magical connection just between the two of them. I didn’t realise how strong it was though until this weekend.

You may know that LJ is a girl of very few words, so far saying mumma, dadda, bebe, juice, yeh, no and of course G’s name. We thought that was it, that we would have to wait a few more months for her vocabulary to open up. It seems she has been tricking us all!

It didn’t surprise me though, in fact when she first said mumma it was by mistake. I went upstairs and suddenly I heard her calling me! When I looked down at her she realised her error and ran off laughing- she knew she had been caught out! The same with dadda- I asked her who was coming up the path and she told me! When she realised she had let slip she hid her face, giggling madly!

So this weekend we were getting ready to take the girls to my mum’s as we were off to London. While I was getting their lunch ready I could hear Little G chattering away to LJ – say ta she said as she passed her a toy. Da said LJ instantly.

What did she say?

Over and over again she was saying ta in exchange for a toy, I actually couldn’t believe my ears! I went in and tried to get her to say it for me but she wasn’t having any of it, just smiling at me in a knowing way.

Next Little G tried to get her to say her own name and yes, you guessed it… I stood in the kitchen completely gobsmacked. My little baby can talk after all, she just doesn’t trust anyone else to hear it. The level of trust she has for her big sister just shows how close they are, a bond that cannot be broken.
