Inside: Overwhelmed as a Busy Working Mom? Try These Tips. Collaborative post.
Women are incredible, and moms even more so. By nature, we take on a lot, want to be everything to everyone, and carry a lot of the family life load. Even when this is something we have chosen to do and enjoy doing, it can get overwhelming at times.
This is what can lead to burnout. But rather than letting ourselves struggle, we need to make a conscious effort to change. After all, we deserve to be happy too. Plus, when we are coping well, we have more energy to be able to support everyone else around us.

If you know that you’ve been feeling overwhelmed lately, you may find that these tips really help. Let’s get into it.
Say No More
Firstly, it always helps to say no more. Even if you know that you tend to struggle with this, you will always benefit from turning down invites or respecting your boundaries. When you know that you need to be able to put yourself first and handle your workload more, saying no can take the pressure off a bit.
Get Help With Your Responsibilities
However, there are some things that you just can’t say no to. As a mom and a daughter with elderly parents, you have a lot of people to care for. But you can also look to try and get some support for that. It might be finding a good daycare for your children or even exploring specialist assisted living facilities with your parents.
That way, you know that they’ll be cared for when you’re working or trying to manage everything else.
Cut Back if You Need to
Sometimes, it may also mean that you need to cut back. This isn’t always going to be about doing less at work, however. Sometimes, you’ll need help around the house or to commit to less socially. Only you will know what needs to change, but you may find that doing less really helps.
Prioritize Better
One thing that will help you with knowing what to cut back on is to prioritize better. When you’re prioritizing your to-do list, you’ll find that it helps you to work out what you need to focus on and what might need to be done.
After all, we can’t do and be everything–we have to focus on the things that matter to us the most.
Take Time Out For Yourself
Ultimately, if you know that there’s little you can do to change the circumstances, particularly overnight, then you need to take more time out for yourself. It’s not selfish to need some downtime to recharge. As a mom, it’s common to find yourself putting everyone else above you and feeling guilty for wanting a moment to yourself. But that will only mean that you completely burn out.
An hour in the morning or evening might be all it takes. Go for a walk, take a bath, or just sit quietly with a tea. When you aim to take that bit of time for yourself, it can make a world of difference to how you feel.
