Life as a mother can swing in two directions. You can find yourself going stir crazy, stuck indoors with no adult conversation day after day. Or, you can have a week like we have had- busy every day resulting in you feeling exhausted!
A few weeks ago I felt ‘trapped’ at home. We had had weeks upon weeks of illness between the 4 of us and so hadn’t really left the building. I found myself feeling really low, wishing I had more friends to see and places to go. I could have just wallowed in self pity but instead I took control and got in touch with a few people to make plans. So, instead of sitting at home just the 3 of us (Mr. F being at work) we had a really fun week!
We went on a nature at the beginning of the week. It is the loveliest walk through trees finishing at a park. It is literally round the corner to our house yet I have never been there and didn’t even know it existed! After discovering it with friends we have since been back there 3 times! I love this photo of Little G picking flowers. I have really been trying to take ‘better’ photos. I am really enjoying the process actually.
I tried Baby L on some more food this week. So far weaning has been a nightmare! We were advised to wean early to help her reflux. However, food of any kind makes her reflux 100 times worse! Great! She is going to be 6 months old on Sunday and is beginning to grab for food. Here she is with a rusk- she had absolutely no idea what to do with it! As soon as we get started properly I will be documenting our journey through baby-led weaning.
Little G loves to play dressing-up. Baby L wanted to join in too- amusingly she will put anything that is NOT food into her mouth! She really enjoyed having her photo taken as my phone camera allows you to flip the view to ‘selfie’ mode which she likes. She is a proper poser unlike Little G who never liked having her photo taken, she still doesn’t really.
School fair season is upon us and we have fully embraced it, Previous years Little G has been too young really so we felt like frauds. However this year she thoroughly enjoyed joining in with the activities! As you can see she got her face painted with a rainbow. I was a little apprehensive as she is allergic to suncream on her face but thankfully she didn’t react to the paints. She also won a cuddly cat and bead necklace in a tombola (I say won but actually she managed to use her cute smile to con a woman into giving it).
We are very lucky to have a river running through our town. It is a really lovely place to go for a picnic. There are ducks and geese wandering everywhere- they even come and sit right next to you which I find a bit unnerving actually! I love living in Hitchin!
So I started the week feeling down in the dumps about things but after a week of meeting up with friends and family and going to parks and fairs I am feeling so much happier.
I realised the world will not come to me, I need to go find it for myself!
Looks like you had a good week. I like Hitchin, my OH is from there, we used to live in Letchworth. You are right, you have to grab opportunities and sometimes go find them. Thanks for linking #LetKidsBeKids

No way! Small world! I love letchworth too, keep meaning to go to the water park there, everyone says it is really good. Don't have the car in the week though and I imagine it is packed at the weekends. x
