Our Seaside Themed Week

You may have read my post last week about planning our week with Twinkl, I wrote about how I have never really been very good at thinking of activities but was planning on taking the girls on a seaside adventure through various activities. Well, we had GREAT fun all week and I have decided to make it into a weekly roundup!

Each week I will share the activities we have done and let you know what the following week’s theme will be. Hopefully it will give you some ideas too!

Underwater fun

CRAFTS The first activity we did was from the Twinkl website, such a nice activity using lollipop sticks to make a fish. We stuck him on a paper plate we’d painted blue and added some tissue paper seaweed.

COOKING The next thing we did was make some rock pool pies– I saw these a couple of years ago on the I can Cook section on cbeebies and they are super easy to make.

INDOORS We decided to turn our conservatory into the ocean and so use paper plates, tissue paper and googly eyes to make octopuses and hung them from the ceiling. They look great!

OUTDOORS We had a great time pretending to be at the seaside with out sand and water trays!

HAND PAINTING The last thing we did was to get the paints out once again and make some handprint mermaids. They are so easy to do and the full instructions are on the Twinkl website. This wasn’t one for Little L to join in with as she still has a tendency to lick her fingers!!

READING We also had great fun reading seaside related books. The main one being The Singing Mermaid by Julia Donaldson. Here are the others we read:

It has been such a lovely week and we have already decided that this coming week’s theme is going to be Princes and Princesses after visiting Buckingham Palace at the weekend.
