The One Lovely Blog Award

I was lucky enough to be nominated for both the ‘One Lovely Blog’ award ‘The Christmas Tag’ by Heledd and Jenna respectively. I had already planned to follow Heledd’s lead and do a festive edition so thought I would combine the two rather than repeating myself!

LOVE Christmas, it is my favourite time of year! So here are my answers to the 10 Christmas tag questions:

What is your favourite Christmas movie?

Without a doubt it is Miracle on 34th Street. I do believe that he is the real Santa!!! And isn’t that girl just the cutest?! Although she is probably about my age now!! That is a bit weird!!

Do you open your presents Christmas eve or Christmas morning?

When I was living at home I always managed to con my mum into letting me open one on Christmas eve but now that I have children of my own I am very good and wait until the morning! I am always allowed to feel my presents the night before so I can try and guess what they are!

Do you have a favourite Christmas memory?

My mum always writes clues on all of my presents, each year the clues have got worse and worse so now I read it, guess immediately and we all laugh hysterically (you have to be there!!)

Favourite festive food?

Mmmmmmm mince pies! I have lost count the number of boxes we (I) have already eaten!!

Favourite Christmas gift?

I can remember one year getting a ballerina doll from Father Christmas. I loved that doll and actually G now has her which is lovely.

Favourite Christmas scent?

I love Yankee candles and I bought a massive one a couple of years ago that is still going! It is ‘Cherries on Snow’ and just smells of Christmas to me.

Do you have any Christmas eve traditions?

Besides feeling my presents to guess what they are it has become a tradition to go into town to see Mr F’s friends. My mum has the girls so we can go out for an hour or two to wish everyone a merry Christmas.

What tops your tree?

We have a lovely star that tops our tree but do you know what I really want? A disney tree topper!! A friend has one and I keep meaning to look on eBay in the summer months when they would be cheaper but I always forget!!

As a child what was your one gift you always asked for but never received?

Hmm, do I sound spoilt if I say I always got what I wanted? Thing is actually I never asked for anything extravagant so things were always achievable. Give me a my little pony and I am happy!

What’s the best part about Christmas for you?

Sounds cheesy but Christmas for me is all about giving. I love buying things I know people will love and when I see their faces light up it makes my day!

Here are my 7  facts about me for the One Lovely Blog Award:

  1. Mr F proposed to me on Christmas morning 2008. I was not expecting it at all and didn’t believe it! I just kept saying ‘are you joking?’ over and over!
  2. The tree has gone up on December 1st without fail since I have lived away from home. That is until this year when we will be waiting until the day after Baby L’s birthday. I don’t want her 1st birthday overshadowed by Christmas.
  3. I buy a new decoration every year that symbolises our year somehow.
  4. We do not have Christmas dinner on Christmas day. Instead we have a big fry up and gorge on sweets all day. Christmas dinner is on Boxing day!
  5. My favourite program to watch in the build up to Christmas is Kirstie’s Homemade Christmas. I am not overly a fan of Kirstie Alsopp but that series has me wanting to make my own decorations and gifts!
  6. One year Mr F bought me a pair of pyjamas I had really wanted. He had said we couldn’t afford to buy unnecessary things and so I hadn’t got them for myself. When I opened them I cried. His family must have thought I was mad (I am a bit mad, they were pyjamas for goodness sake!) but he never surprises me and it caught me off guard!
  7. I do not take my tree down until the 6th of Jan. Not a day before nor a day after. I am very superstitious and do not want a year of bad luck! There is always confusion as to whether it is the 5th or the 6th. It depends whether you count from Christmas Eve night (the first night of Christmas) or from Christmas day itself.

That’s it! Thanks again to both Jenna and Heledd for nominating me! Here are my nominees- no pressure to join in but let me know if you do so I can have a nosey! If you have been nominated for one but not the other then feel free to pick and choose which award to pass on from me (apologies if you have already been nominated for both- hard to keep track!)

Ok so that is 10, my brain hurts and cannot think of another 5+
