HappyDays Linky #10

Welcome to HappyDays! I co-host this inspiring linky with Jenna (Tiny Footsteps) so please do remember to go over to her post and say hi!

Well I don’t know where the weeks are going! December already!! Crazy!! I know it is going to be Christmas day before we know it and I am not at all prepared!

We had lovely posts linked up again last week, thank you so much to everyone who joins each week, in it means so much to both of us. xx

I loved The Gruffalo post by Mini Travellers! I have looked up where our nearest trail is and there is one 45 mins away! I am hoping to go this weekend if the weather is dry!

I also loved reading about Mummy of Boy Girl Twins’ country walk. Along with beautiful photos it was just nice to see a simple day out being enjoyed by all. I really need to do some more spontaneous activities like this!

Ok my turn..

Out & About

I had a great day Saturday meeting up with Jenna in Cambridge. We browsed the shops, bought a few presents for Christmas and walked about 100 miles!! My legs took days to recover!

Other than that we haven’t been out and about much as a family, besides a trip to town to buy a few bits and bobs for Christmas. Must try harder to get out of the house (and not just to my mums) next week! Hopefully I will be able to go find the Gruffalo this weekend!

Fun at Home

I had no work this week, I guess no teachers go on courses in the run up to Christmas so nobody needs pre-arranged supply. I was a little relieved though as it meant more time with my girls!

We have spent most of the week doing Elf on the Shelf activities. My favourite was potato stamping – we cut out the shapes on the potatoes and once stamped looked like baubles! We are going to cut them out and make Christmas cards for close family.

We are delaying putting the tree up this year as Baby L turns 1 on the 15th and I don’t want her birthday being overtaken by the festivities. However, we have got all of the decorations down from the loft and Little G and I spent one evening sorting through them all. She has put up a tree in her room and put a few bits and bobs around the house which has made me feel much more festive!

Time for Me

I have done quite well again this week! I went to a fab Usborne book evening on Wednesday and have bought a couple of lovely books for the girls. My favourite thing about their books are the ducks- I think I am just as excited to find them on the page as the girls! Just a big kid at heart! It was so nice to be out of the house and munch on mince pies without worrying about whether anyone needs me.

I had a lovely afternoon on Thursday with Mr F. He has spent the past 6 years doing an ACCA accountancy qualification alongside his full time job. I don’t know how he has managed it to be honest as my brain is total mush these days. He was invited along to the award ceremony to recognise his achievement which was really nice. Always nice to be appreciated!

My Happiest Moment

I have managed to take a step back from blogging this week (albeit a tiny step!) but it has meant I am feeling a little less stressed about it all. The past few weeks have been a bit manic with various gift guides I have been writing, if I do it again next year I think I will start a few months earlier so it isn’t such a rush!

Anyway, feeling less stressed has of course made me happier and I am really looking forward to Christmas now! Our first Christmas as a family of 4 which will be special. Not that L will understand what is going on but she is always so happy she will feed off the happiness of everyone else!

Next week I would like to…

Get out of the house!!! I think I am struggling with this because of going to work. I am so pleased to be at home on days off that I forget that the girls haven’t been anywhere! We haven’t been to the park for a while so I will definitely try to go there plus I am meeting up with friends on Wednesday so that will be nice.

Cambridge already feels like ages ago. :( We must arrange something for the New year, can't wait to meet up with you again.

The potato stamping looks proper awesome - is it sad that I wanna do it myself?!

Hope you manage to get out more this week. :)

Do you know what I really want to do? Is stamp onto plain brown wrapping paper to make my own if that makes sense? So no, not sad at all haha! xxx

Sounds like a lovely week - your day in Cambridge sounds fab and I love the potato stamps (although I have to admit, I am a bit anti-elf-on-the-shelf.) It's hard to get out of the house on cold days - but I know Pumpkin is so much happier if we can get out. Hubby says she likes to 'run free' - although she's not even walking yet. :-)

Ha why are you anti Elf on the Shelf? I have made my own twist on it anyway so don't do it 'properly' as I think the original is a bit creepy! x

Wow, the potato stamp baubles look fab, they will be brilliant as Christmas cards! I think it's so thoughtful that you are holding off on the tree so it doesn't distract from Baby L's birthday =) Well done on getting some me time, the award ceremony for your husband sounds lovely too. Congrats to him! I hope you manage some time out of the house this week and enjoy the Gruffalo trail tomorrow xx

Thanks Sammy :-) Definitely give it a try, as I said to Vickie- cut out a handle to grip or actually corn on the cob handles would work great! xx
