Have you ever watched the TV series of Mr & Mrs? I am always in fits of laughter watching all of the couples try and find their matches. I also spend the whole time telling Mr F that I would be amazing at the game! Well, I was put on the spot when asked to have a play of Mr & Mrs the board game- would I be any good?
The instructions say that it can be played with 2 players but I would recommend playing it with a group of friends as you need an outside person to be the ‘host’ for each couple. We played it with Mr F’s brother and his wife when they came over for dinner and had such a laugh!
Round 1- How well do you know your partner?
Each pair are asked questions about their partner while their other half stays silent. You have to write down your answers on the pad provided. Once completed you hand your pad to the ‘host’ and they then ask the questions again, this time the partner gives their answer and you can see if any are a match! Each match means a point for the team.
How did we do?
We got a little confused by the question cards and it was a little disjointed. Some of the questions were very random but others were funny and we had fun answering them. One of the questions was ‘Which fruit best describes your partner?’ and then 4 choices were given- I would have quite liked there to be descriptions with each option, it would have made it that little bit more like the tv show.
Round 2- Paddle Round
This works in the same was as the TV show- each pair are asked a question at the same time and must hold up either a blue or paddle depending on their answer. If they both hold up the same paddle it is a match and they get a point for their team.
How did we get on?
We loved this round, it was so funny seeing what each person thought and we learnt lots about each other!
Round 3- A repeat of round 1 (unless I misread the instructions).
Round 4- (An alternative to the paddle round or a bonus round) It’s A Match.
This round is all about getting a match, it doesn’t have to be a correct answer as long as you both agree with the answers you give. The host asks you a question and if you both say true or both say false then you get a match- 2 points for a correct answer and 1 point for a false answer (both being matches).
How did we get on?
We really liked this round too and we liked learning about some of the facts on the cards. There was a good mix of general knowledge questions so would suit different interests for different people.
Overall impression of the game
We all agreed that it was a great game and even once the game had ended we carried on with the paddle round and It’s a match cards, just for fun. I would say though that now we have played it once we would have an unfair advantage if we played it again with another couple. So it is not necessarily a game that can be played again and again. That being said, it is a lot of fun so definitely worth buying if you are going to be having friends over and you want to have a great time!
We were sent this game in return for this review. All words and thoughts are my own.
