Morning Makeup Routine For Busy Mums - What Katy Said

Morning Makeup Routine For Busy Mums

Up until recently I had completely let myself go, I mean really let myself go. I didn’t care what I looked like as I just didn’t feel like I was worth looking after. I didn’t make the time as I truly didn’t see the point. Years of putting others before myself had left me feeling as though there was little to no reason to make the effort, because who would care either way?

I can’t really explain why I have changed, I think it was probably due to wanting to cope with life with a newborn. I didn’t want to fall apart under the pressure or sink into an even bigger rut, I didn’t want people to see me fail.

The thing is, even though my initial reasons were to ‘keep up appearances’, it has become more than that. Making the effort for others has made me realise that I deserve to feel better about myself. So now it isn’t for anyone else, it is for me and me alone.

Now as much as I enjoy putting makeup on every morning, I am still a busy mum of 3 with minimal time to myself. I cannot be sitting at my dressing table for any length of time and I most definitely do not want to get up extra early just to put my face on. So, I have had to perfect my morning makeup routine and I now have it down to a speedy 5 minutes!

I wanted to share that routine with you, so you can make the time to feel good too! I don’t use many products but the things I use are key to creating a fresh faced look each morning.

– Cleanser/Toner

Do you cleanse every day? You should do! I’ve been doing it for years and it means I will stay looking fresh faced for longer. I use Nivea’s 2 in 1 cleanser and toner to save on precious time.

– Moisturiser

time bomb

Moisturising is key to the daily routine and keeps me wrinkle free! I have been using Time Bomb‘s Glory Days Day Cream for the last month and I love it – it absorbs really quickly so I don’t waste time waiting for any residue to clear. I have also been using their Complexion Cocktail – it reverses signs of tiredness, which lets be honest, is something we all suffer with!

– BB Cream

Bio Essence bb cream

This is a game changer! If you have redness or massive eye bags but don’t want to spend time applying foundation then this is your new best friend. I discovered Janiro BB Cream last year and it is just amazing. I reviewed their Green Tea BB Cream at the time, which I loved and have recently been using their new 10 in 1 cream. Love it!

– Eyeliner and eyebrow pencil

My eyes always seem to sink into my head when I’m tired so I like to frame them with eyeliner and draw in my eyebrows too! I hate my pale eyebrows!

– Powder

I am currently using a BB powder but honestly I notice no difference, so any powder would do just to set everything.

– Blusher

I am so pale, blusher is a must!!

– Lippy

A little bit of lippy just makes you feel better doesn’t it? I am on the lookout for a new colour actually so let me know if you have any favourites for this time of year!

Thats it! Not to complicated huh? I have made a little video showing my morning routine if you want to see for yourself!

Simple and speedy but it sets me up for the day and makes me feel so much better. There are days when I do not have time to do the full routine but I always always make time for cleansing, toning and moisturising – that is a must!

Do you make time for yourself every morning?

I’ve always thought it was important to ‘put my face on’ as I just feel so much better when I have. You’ve inspired me to invest in the Nivea 2 in 1 cleanser / toner though as I’m definitely lax in the skin care regime. And let’s face it at 36 I need to start and preserve what little youthfulness I have left on my face haha. Kids shouldn’t be an excuse to not take care of yourself and I think it’s so easy to be too busy looking after everyone else so thanks for the speedy tips!

The 2 in 1 is a lifesaver, goes on really easily too compared to the drying feeling you get with separate bottles. xxx

Wood you look amazing! I get so many comments about wearing makeup for the school run but it really doesn’t take long does it and why not innit makes us feel good and gives us a little us time. That lipstick is the perfect colour for you! Have you tried the Janiro gel exfoliator? That’s a favourite of mine too but I have the same cleansing brush as you and love it! Good job mama xxx

It really doesn’t take that long does it? Although I massively failed this morning and felt rubbish because of it. x

I used to get comments and compliments when I was taking our eldest to nursery, 22month old and new baby in tow! Yep all three very close together. Wearing make up made me feel better about myself. Yes it has to be quick, but even on 2 hours sleep, baby with colic, I felt like I could take on the day. I’m glad that you have found your mojo, for you. You look gorgeous and you’re also setting a great example for your children. That making the best of yourself should be for you first and foremost. Xx

Wow you look fab. Ive never worn makeup and im useless at trying to put make up on. I normally use a nivea wipe and then use a moisturizer…ooops lol! Must really try a bit harder! x

A Nivea wipe is probably fine – as long as you are moisturising you are good to go! x
