I cannot believe it has been 6 months since I wrote Little L’s last update!! Time has just flown by and she has changed so much!! The last time I shared an update she had only just started walking- crazy!
She is the cheekiest monkey in the whole world! I have never known such a rascal and her smile is just infectious! So what is she up to now?
I will be sharing our latest milk ladder update soon as thankfully she is doing quite well on that front. Unfortunately she has soya and gluten issues so we are not out of the woods yet!
In other news she can now use a spoon and fork- something I did worry about with baby led weaning but I needn’t have worried at all as she is a pro! She especially loves stabbing peas!
She has also worked out how to suck through a straw, so weird how children are different as her sister preferred straws from an early age whereas L has been all about the sippy cup until now!
Well, she can walk, run, dance and climb. She is so very careful with it all though and that is what amazes me! Her sister is a walking disaster and will fall over just standing still but Little L will assess the area and move carefully to avoid an accident.
Something new is that she can climb the stairs on her feet if holding someone’s hand. Being a teacher I look out for these things and the fact that she uses alternate feet really makes me happy! (it is the small things!).
Oh sleep, how I love it! She is an excellent sleeper unless she is teething (which is all the time!). The only other issue is the fact she still has her dummy at night and so when this falls out she will often cry for it. However, I am mean and do not always go in to get it for her so the past few nights she has drifted back off without it.
She is also sleeping in the cot bed version of her cot now. She was getting too tall and leaning right over her cot that it was making me nervous. I decided to bite the bullet at 15 months and she loves it!! She never once tries to escape which is a bit weird if you ask me but all good!
Hurrah! We have words!!!! They may be few and hard to understand but she is trying, bless her cotton socks! We now have ‘ooosh’ for juice, ‘shhhooooosh’ for shoes, ‘da’ for daddy, ‘bebe’ for baby and last but not least, her first word being her sister’s name.
I am making a concerted effort to encourage speech now, I think I was a bit too relaxed (second child syndrome!) so wasn’t helping the situation.
Other things to note:
- She has a shoe fetish
- She loves playing with dolls above everything else
- She has a great memory – ask her where anything is and she will go fetch it!
- She loves the outdoors
- She loves to point out dogs as we walk along and will not stop pointing until I have acknowledged them.
- She has an irrational fear of the vacuum cleaner
- She hates everyone at the moment, especially men.
What is your 18 month old up to?
