Life Lately #5

Life lately…. where to begin? I’ll start at the beginning (as my mum says, it is a very good place to start..). Basically, I have been a proper moany pants the last month and I am not entirely sure how I am going to snap myself out of it. I feel like the only way I’ll feel better is if we win the lottery or something – we would have to start playing first so that isn’t going to happen any time soon!

It always seems to sneak up on me when we have a break, I take time off and then when we get back I just can’t be bothered to do anything. Then when I don’t work my mind starts to wander, then I get fed up with my blog, that spirals out of control and has a negative impact on my whole mental wellbeing. I’ve snapped at Mr F, I’ve snapped at the kids and I have generally just been a bit of a grump to everyone. Thankfully I have some fab friends to chat to and they have really helped to lift my mood.

What I really need is a big old cry I think (or to win the lottery…) to get all of the emotional build up out of my system. A good cry always does wonders doesn’t it? I have tried to write about how I am feeling, to pin it down into a post, but I don’t actually know what I am upset/frustrated with. That would be a good title wouldn’t it? ‘Bit of a rambling moan about nothing in particular…’ – that’s got viral written all over it haha!

I actually did have a post do well on Facebook the other day and I found out today that it made Blog Of The Day over on Mumsnet so that is pretty cool. I wrote about how I am fed up of pretending that I don’t have well behaved kids. I see so many people sharing stories about tantrums or badly behaved kids and I either stay quiet or nod along in agreement. But I shouldn’t be nodding along as my kids just aren’t like that, they never have been. I should just be brave enough to say that a bit more.

I’ve actually got Lils off sick with me today. She’s fast asleep next to me on the sofa (Wills is napping upstairs) and she’s got a bit of a temperature bless her. We were about to head off to pre-school and she burst into tears. I mean she is a bit of a cry-baby at times but it isn’t like her to cry for absolutely no reason at all. We just can’t seem to shift the germs in this house – I don’t think all 5 of us have been well at the same time since September last year. I am thinking we’ll only be free of the germs once the summer holidays roll around – the rest of the year we will be doomed!

Something that has definitely cheered me up this month is leaving BT and switching over to Virgin. We had 9 months of damaged cable and therefore poor internet and nobody would do a thing about it. In the end we were able to break out of our contract and move to Virgin. So far I am one happy bunny as there have been no drop outs and I can actually get on with work!!

We have an exciting blog collaboration coming up – our holiday to Holland. I have never been before have you? I don’t imagine I will be lucky enough to see fields of tulips – I think they have all died now but I am just looking forward to going away somewhere new. We are staying in a lodge so hopefully it will be home from home but I am really worried about the travelling and how I am going to feed Wills. He likes his bottles boiling hot and with a whole day of travelling I just don’t know how we are going to heat up the water. I might go and see if Amazon sells anything – they sell everything, right?

That’s about it for now I think, life is busy but it is also relaxed right now. I am not taking on too much and I am making more time for my marriage and for my children and family as a whole. Because that’s what it is all about isn’t it?

We have been non stop ill it feels like since September and to top if off the last week my son has had chicken pox, he's back to school tomorrow and I am on countdown for my daughter to get it. I know what you mean though I am ok when I am in my normal routines, life is busy but I can cope. But when you stop and have a break you realise just how busy you are all of the time and that's exhausting. Your trip to holland sounds amazing I look forward to reading all about it.
