HappyDays Linky #06

Hello and welcome to the sixth HappyDays Linky! Another great week last week with some lovely new ladies joining in as well as our lovely regulars! We are truly thankful to every one of you for linking up and the kind words you have to say about the linky!

We have noticed rumblings on Twitter that people don’t like being reminded about linkys etc..(not from anyone here but we don’t want anyone to feel pressured into linking in) so from now on we will retweet posts that you tag us in on Twitter and tweet out general reminders throughout Saturday. x

I really enjoyed reading about Joanna’s day over at ‘Mum in search of Balance’. She and Little F went out for the whole day- 8.45- 4.30!! I have been inspired to get out of the house more, although maybe not so extreme! x

Gemma over at Mummy Bio had a tough week this week but her posts are always so inspirational and upbeat they never fail to make me smile. Baby Bio turned one last week but has also been a bit poorly- hope he is better now x

Ok my turn- as you may have seen I have not had a good week at all. I have really been struggling with keeping on top of everything. People ask me how I find having two children and I always tell them it isn’t much different to having one. This isn’t a complete fib as really once you are a mother your life has changed so adding another little life to the mix isn’t too hard. However, it is the other stuff that makes it harder- more washing, more plates to wash, more mess created etc etc.. Throw in teething and the terrible threes and it is actually very hard being a mum of two.

Of course I wouldn’t swap my life for anything, I love my girls more than I ever knew possible and they give me so much pleasure. I just need to organise myself better! Reading your posts every week has opened my eyes to the wonderful activities I can and should be doing with my girls! I have a plan and as soon as I have perfected it I will share it with all of you lovely people!

Out & About

Well, naturally I haven’t been the best at getting out of the house this week. I have pretty much hibernated in our living room! We had a fab time at Sopwell House for Halloween and Fireworks which was lovely- G hated the fireworks though which put pay to our plans of going to the local fireworks display in Hitchin on Wednesday. Just as well as it was sooooo cold on Wednesday wasn’t it? Winter is well and truly on it’s way!

Off to town after ballet, the view of the river.

After deciding not to carry ballet on, Little G managed to make me feel well and truly guilty about it so I caved and paid for another half term. She will be at pre-school as of January anyway so definitely won’t be able to carry on past the end of this term. At least it forces me out of the house every Friday if I have had to pay for it!

Fun at Home

We finally got around to carving our pumpkin on Monday! Little G chose a design and was determined to do it all herself! She is going through a real independence phase at the moment which can be so infuriating at times! In the end she admitted defeat and ‘allowed’ me to help! It was nice quality time spent together while Baby was napping.

Our pumpkin & our dressing up fun!

We have also done lots of dressing up this week, at one point I was a fairy cowboy and she was a chef in high heels! I really need to buy a few more outfits though as we mainly have princess dresses which doesn’t offer much variation.

She enjoyed being a nurse best though and she really made me smile when she was dispensing the medicine- she tipped the bottle upside down and pulled out the syringe in exactly the same way as she has seen me do with the Calpol over the years!

Time for me

Despite being a misery guts this week I have done quite well! We went out for dinner on Thursday just the two of us, I cannot remember the last time we had an ‘out of the house’ date! We ate so much we could barely walk by the end! Mr F’s brother and his wife babysat for us- they love the girls so always jump at the chance to spend time with them. I will definitely try and arrange more time for just the two of us as it was nice being Katy for a change rather than mummy and cleaner!

A sneaky preview of our food- will write about it properly soon!

My Happiest Moment

Ok so I haven’t had the best week but I am still able to appreciate how lucky I am. My happiest moment has been seeing the joy on Baby L’s face as she is able to walk independently! She has really come out of her shell this week and it is like she feels able to enjoy herself now she can walk from room to room with us.

Here is a clip of her first steps on my youtube channel. I’ve not uploaded anything on there for a while but if I ever manage to get a new laptop I will get back into vlogging as I love it!

Next week I’d like to …

I want to sit down on Sunday to plan my week. I work best when I have a list or a plan and so I think if I know ahead of time what I am ‘supposed’ to be doing I will actually get out of the house. Spontanaity is just not me and so if I don’t plan then I do not do anything besides sit around the house. So hopefully next week I will have a bit more to share with you for ‘out & about’ and ‘fun at home’.

Have a good week everyone xx

I really hope you are feeling happier and that being at Blogfest gave you a 'happy boost' if you will. I think we all feel we 'could do better' but we are all just doing our best and that's all we can do.

I totally agree about getting organised, I think it really helps. I 'm hoping to spend some time this week organising my life a bit better.

That food looks sooooooooo scrummy. So jealous. :)

Thank you so much for the mention again, I'm really glad that our HappyDays make you smile. I'm sorry that this week has been a struggle for you, I can only imagine how tough it can be with two children sometimes as it's difficult enough with just one! Your pumpkin carving and dressing up look great fun, I bet you were a fab fairy cowboy! Well done on having your 'out of the house' date, the food looks seriously yummy xx

It isn't so much the two children but more the stuff that comes with having two, more clothes, more toys etc.. How people cope with more than two I just don't know! You would forever be doing washing!!!! Nightmare!! xx

I really love your photos! The river view is stunning and your pumpkin is brilliant!

Life with one child is just so exhausting I am in awe of anyone who has more than one. It's great that you're going to make a plan for the week though. I really hope it helps you to feel on top of things a bit more. Vx

I am really hoping it helps! The weather hasn't really helped either, I am not inspired to be out and about when it is pouring with rain! x

I can totally relate to your need to plan to make the most of your time. It's so easy to get carried away without a plan.

It does look as though you got lots achieved even without a plan :)
