Getting started with reusable nappies

Reusable nappies can be a bit of a daunting prospect. There are so many brands to choose from and various websites to buy them from. I now feel like I know what I am doing after a few months of using cloth and so I have put together this list of essential items along with a description for each.
reusable nappies

Nappies – A set of 10 will do for washing every other day for a baby 6 months plus (20 for a newborn). If you want to do nighttime too then add 4 nighttime ones to this. (nighttime nappies such as Totsbots Bamboozles are made of bamboo so take longer to dry, therefore u need some dry while others are in the wash)

A Nappy bucket and 2 mesh bags – to store the dirty nappies in before you wash them.
Boosters – (one per nappy- bamboo are good and I can recommend Little Lamb)
Liners -(either flushable – come in rolls of 100 or washable- one per nappy)
1 x Wet bag – you pop dirty nappies in this when you go out.
Cloth safe nappy cream –  I can highly recommend Waitrose Bottom Butter. If you use creams such as Sudocrem you will coat the fibres and render the nappy useless! (don’t panic, this is easily fixed with a good strip wash)Click here to find out how to solve problems when using cloth.
