Getting Myself Organised

I used to be so organised before I had kids. As a teacher I was forever with a list in my hand but these days the only time I seem to make them is when we are packing to go away somewhere. I don’t even write a shopping list!!! What has happened to me??

As part of finding my balance with my life I am trying to get myself organised. I am all too aware that I forget things too easily and this is not going to bode well for remembering book bags and PE kits come September!

Now, I am a bit old school and like to write things on paper. However, I know I need to get into the 21st century and merge my online life with my real life and as a result have been using my new Alcatel One Touch Pixi 7 for the past week or so. I feel very important I have to say!

Before I started blogging I didn’t think I had any need for a tablet. I saw them as something working people needed, those who sit on trains and catch up with emails before work, you know? Well, in the past few weeks I have fallen in love with mine and wish I had got one sooner!

It is so lightweight, compared to my husband’s one which is like a brick! It is really thin too and just the right size for my hands. I have used it so much and for so many different things! I do have a smartphone and could use that instead of loading up my computer every time but the screen is too small for lots of things, so my tablet is perfect!

I thought I would share a little bit of my browser history with you, so you can glimpse into my online life!

HITCHIN LAVENDER I see so many people taking photos of their kids in lavender and I want in!! I was checking out prices for our local fields- £4.50 for me and the girls are free! We are going this week haha!

IKEA I am on the hunt for some tall chest of drawers for our bedroom. We were going to knock out the wardrobes and rebuild them for more storage but a lack of time and money means drawers are much a better idea!

WHEAT & SOYA ALLERGIES Little L is doing so well with her dairy allergies but the others aren’t letting up. I was Googling the age they may go (on average) and it seems I have a long road ahead!

JOHN LEWIS Our friends are getting married in a couple of weeks and I suddenly remembered that we hadn’t got them anything from their gift list!! Mad dash to their registry to buy them some bits and bobs!

TESCO We get our shopping online and it was so easy to do it on my tablet rather than loading up my laptop which is SO slow at the moment!!

Of course I have also used it for checking emails and going on social media and it is perfect for catching up with my favourite blogs!  I have also downloaded the Kindle app and have been having a little read of a few books before bedtime- bliss!

One of my favourite features is Evernote, I had heard other people talking about it but couldn’t use it on my phone. It is a handy app that allows you to create notes. I have been using it to make so many lists (I do love a list). So far I have made to do lists for blogging, to do lists around the home and to do lists for activities with the girls. Each is filed separately and is easy to access when I need it.

I am a total convert now and can see why people love their tablets so much!

Do you have a tablet, what do you use it for?

I was sent the tablet for the purpose of this review. All thoughts and words are my own.

I have a Samsung tablet but to be honest I mostly use my phone as it has a large screen. And welcome to the world of Evernote! It's amazing isn't it? Don't know what I'd do without it. (I wrote a bloggers guide to Evernote over on Bod for tea that you might like - http://bodfortea.co.uk/2014/04/tips-for-using-evernote-as-a-blogger.html) xx

I love my iMac, iPhone and iPad - bit of an apple geek over here! Not sure I could part with them! They're like my body parts now! LOL! But I do keep lists on them too. Enjoy getting organised, such a great feeling. I love it when I feel organised and not drowning in tasks :) Jess xx

I've had my iPad for almost a year and in all honesty I still only use it for music and playlists, still live my paper notebook for listed, jotting stuff down. Really do need to drag myself out of the dark ages. Perhaps I'll take your lead and give it another go.
