When I’m not smiling on camera I have what you’d call a resting bitch face.
I can’t help it.
Or at least I don’t think I can help it.
I am sure people must look at me and think I am miserable 90% of the time, just by looking at the frown I have plastered on my face for 90% of the time.
I am not miserable, I can tell you that much. But I could be happier.
Last year my word of the year was ‘growth’. It related to my blog (although I think my hips sat up and took notice…) and overall I do think I grew and made a name for myself. But I can’t say I felt happy in 2017, there was something missing.
If you watch my YouTube channel you will have seen a few videos relating to my overall wellbeing and that I have been on a mission to find myself lately. I have to say, the last couple of months have been so much better happiness-wise and I definitely want to carry it on this year.
Do you want to be happier in 2018 too?
This year’s word is ‘balance’. I want to find balance in all areas in my life, with the end goal being that I am happier as a person.
I have decided to set myself monthly challenges and I am inviting you to join in with me. Nothing too taxing, nothing that will push you too hard, but enough that by this time next year we should all feel a little happier.
So how will it work?
Well, each month I will set a theme and send it via email. So make sure you are on my mailing list… (if you are already on my list then keep an eye out for an email asking you to join the challenge).
Once the theme is set, I will be on Instagram Stories sharing how I am getting on. I will post under the hashtag #DeclutteringMotherhood and you are welcome to join in too.
Together we are stronger.
If we can support each other throughout the month, over the course of the year, we will build a community and feel better for it.
So this month I want you to focus on you.
I want you to be more selfish.
How often do you put yourself first? Never? Less than never?
This month I want you to put yourself first more.
10 ways to make time for you.
Here are 10 ways you can put yourself first and make yourself a priority. None take up too much time and so are completely achievable.
- Take a bath
- Read for 30 mins at bedtime
- Have a hot cup of tea and a biscuit
- Take time to write a gratitude journal
- Paint your nails
- Buy yourself some flowers
- Catch up with a friend – in person!
- Listen to music (and have a dance)
- Give yourself a facial
- Do nothing – yes I mean it! Take 5 minutes and do. nothing.
So that is your task for January. I am going to try and put myself first for a change, put a genuine smile on my face, and I want you to do the same.
Here’s to a happier 2018!
