We’re going to the zoo zoo zoo!

I was so excited when we received the invite from Days Out to go to Paradise Wildlife Park. The girls had been a few weeks before with Mr F and had a great time! It was for a bloggers event and so I was also a little nervous to meet other bloggers but off we went for an exciting day!

Days Out is an easy way to find great places to visit in the UK. It currently lists 8’000 attractions and offers over 1’000 discount vouchers throughout the year. Their website is really easy to use so if you are planning on going somewhere it is always worth a look to see if you can get some money off! Everyone loves a bargain!

We arrived really early, I had been expecting traffic but actually there was barely a car on the road. We were greeted by Lynn, the CEO of the park and Cassie and Gary from Days Out. We were immediately made to feel welcome, Little G was given a balloon to keep her happy until the others arrived.

I got to meet the lovely Aby who I have been following for a while now on Twitter. I also met Lilinha, Nat and Katy, check out their blogs!

We were treated to a film about the park first of all, I found it really interesting to see how far it has come. Paradise Wildlife Park was opened 30 years ago and at the time was named the worst zoo in Britain! 30 years later it is now ranked the best attraction in Hertfordshire. It is also the only zoo where you can see all 5 big cats. I did Zoology at uni so found all of this very exciting!

We were given a tour of the park by two lovely zoo keepers and were also treated to a private animal training session for their leopard which was very cool. Little G’s favourite part was being allowed into the tortoise house.

Just before lunch we went to watch a show by the Karisma Kidz. Little G was very excited by all the dancing- she was sweating by the end of the show! The girl in charge of the show was amazing, she must be so fit doing all that moving, it was like an aerobic workout!!

After a yummy lunch we had free time to enjoy the park on our own. We had an explore and went to watch the bird show. Annoyingly it began to rain so the show was cut short. However we found a little house where we could walk with Lorikeets. It was AMAZING! They fly down and take nectar from your hand- definitely the best experience of the day.

 

There is so much to do and even though we didn’t leave until 4ish there was still loads we hadn’t managed to squeeze in! I am definitely going to take the girls back there soon. I also like the sound of their ‘Snooze at the Zoo’ experience! I might treat Mr F to that one birthday as he loves anything animal related.
