Caring for Delicate Skin With Aveeno® Baby - What Katy Said

Caring for Delicate Skin With Aveeno® Baby

Our family has a history of dry skin, from my mum having severe eczema to the girls getting mild irritation every now and then. I have always used Aveeno on their dry skin and have used it myself from a very early age as my mum always swore by it. When I heard that they were bringing out a baby range I was so pleased as I am always conscious of anything I put on Will’s skin.

Aveeno® invited me along to a skincare symposium ahead of Blogfest this year and the scientist in me was very excited to learn a bit more about their products. We were also given a goody bag containing the full range and I’ve been using them over the last few weeks on Will’s skin and I love them – they are every bit as good as I thought they would be.

Did you know that a baby’s skin has a higher pH than that of an adult? I didn’t! Aveeno® Baby has been specifically formulated with a natural, finely ground oatmeal which soothes and protects their unique skin.

Their skin is so thin compared to an adult’s and they lose water much more quickly, leaving them dry and irritated – especially in the extremes of winter. The Aveeno® Baby Soothing Relief Baby Emollient Wash is a soap free cleansing wash that leaves their skin soothed and moisturised.

Aveeno® is now a part of our every day routine, so although we don’t bath Wills every day he still gets the benefits of their oatmeal formulation. He’d had such dry skin and I’d been using baby massage oil but it wasn’t giving a lasting protection. Since using the Soothing Relief Baby Emollient Cream his skin has been so smooth and soft, all signs of dryness gone.

The thing I like about it is the fact that it absorbs really quickly and isn’t at all greasy. It can be used every day and moisturises for 24 hours which is great!

Aveeno Baby Barrier cream

The Daily Care Baby Barrier Cream is my favourite as it clears any signs of nappy rash after one nappy change. I try not to use it at every change just because he is in cloth nappies and thankfully he doesn’t particularly suffer, but when I do use it, it is brilliant!

At this time of year, with the heating on full blast, my skin gets so dry and I always turn to Aveeno®. I can now use it on his delicate skin too and protect him from the elements that could dry his baby soft skin out. Another top tip I learned on the day was that if you have particularly sensitive skin then baby products are the best thing to use as they have a higher pH, helping to balance your skin’s pH.

Do you have sensitive skin? Have you ever used Aveeno®?

We have been trying this out too. It was great at the start but I then added it to the bath water and my four year old reacted to it. So I will probably stick with the Aveeno Dermexa instead that has been working for us for the last four years.

I really need to buy some of this for Little Mister H. His is so dry at the moment. I used to use coconut oil when I gave him a massage but it doesn’t make any difference any more. I’m hoping that the baby Aveeno would really help. Thanks for a great review. Hugs Lucy xxxx
