15 Ways to bloom where you're planted - What Katy Said

Bloom in March | Challenge

Inside: 15 ways to help you bloom where you stand.

I am constantly striving to improve myself as I believe that as much as we should be content right now in the present, we should also try our best to be better than we were yesterday.

With spring just around the corner, I thought that would be the perfect time to set a challenge for the community. I don’t know about you but a challenge really helps me to focus so I will be doing it each week left in March and I hope you will join in too.

Bloom where you stand.

“Make the best of life where you are.”

The grass may look greener but if you can bloom where you are planted then you will realise your grass is just the right shade of green for you.

For the next 3 weeks, over 15 days, I want you to focus on finding the joy in your normal every day. The joy in your body, your home, your life and everything in it. I will share my journey too and we can help each other to bloom.

Week 1, day 1. It isn’t easy, but I want you to write down 3 things you love about yourself. Top tip – look at your kids. The things you love about them? They got from you.

Day 2. Change your mental state by changing your physical state. We are all differently-abled but we can all move more than we normally do.

Day 3. We are surrounded by social media posts showing those perfect homes. Unless you win the lottery your home isn’t going to change any time soon. So stop wishing for a show home and create a homely home. Get yourself some flowers, some scatter cushions or whatever else you need to make you feel house-proud.

Day 4. Never have enough time? Endless list of things to do getting you down? Set yourself a timer and see how much you can get done. The more you do the better you’ll feel and the more you’ll do.

Day 5. Don’t let others stop you from blooming. Don’t let others drag you down. Go through your IG feed and unfollow anyone that makes you feel any negative thoughts.

Week 2, day 1. Be grateful for what you have. A grateful heart is a happy heart.

Day 2. Don’t give to receive, give for the joy of giving and make someone else’s day. Whether it be a compliment, your time or a bunch of flowers, think of someone today and make them smile.

Day 3. Instead of asking why your house is a mess, as how you can change it so that the mess doesn’t get so bad. Instead of asking why your kids don’t listen, ask how you can change the way you speak so that they do listen.

Day 4. Smiling actually makes you happier. Smile at strangers, smile at yourself in the mirror, smile at your loved ones and spread the happiness around.

Day 5. What is it you want to achieve today? This week? This month? This year? Whatever it is, make today the day to take the next best step. No time like the present, start today.

Week 3, day 1. Do you wait to wear your nice earrings? Do you save your perfume for nights out? When was the last time you used your favourite handbag? Today is as good a day as any to be your best self and make the effort – for you.

Day 2. Spend today being completely present. Enjoy the sound of your toast being buttered. Take in your surroundings on the school run. Enjoy your life and avoid losing yourself in the black hole that is social media.

Day 3. Spending time chatting over text or meeting up in person with a friend is time well spent. Who haven’t you been in contact with lately? Give them a text or arrange to see them – it will make your day and theirs.

Day 4. Choose positivity. It is hard sometimes but try to see the positive in everything today. Running late? Better late than never. Raining? Chance to splash in puddles. Life is what you make of it.

Day 5. There comes a point when you realise that there is no use in holding onto anything that brings you down. And you actually let go. Wish you had a bigger house? Let it go and enjoy the house you have. Wish you were thinner? Appreciate the body you have right now.

Use everything you have done these past 3 weeks and let go everything that doesn’t fit with that mindset.

Thanks Katy, I’m going to print this out and work through it. I am already going through my social media and unfollowing accounts that make me feel low.
