Baby Development- 7 month old baby

I have a 7 month old baby! How did that happen?? Doesn’t seem a minute that I was doing last month’s baby development post, time is going far too quickly for my liking! This month has been a good one for milestones and achievements and I find myself with a very active baby indeed!

Ok, so remember in my 6 month update I was worrying about Baby L not being able to blow raspberries? Total waste of time as now she does nothing but spit all over the place and is very pleased with herself! I now remember quite clearly wishing that Little G would pass this stage quickly and feel very silly that I worried that Baby L would never get to this point!!

Feeding

Wow does she love food or what?! If we don’t give her something at dinner times she screeches until we plop something onto her tray. She is now quite capable at putting food into her mouth but hasn’t quite worked out how to chew anything. So we are at the ‘put it in her mouth and then spit it out’ stage at the moment. I have been giving her rusk biscuits but they seem to have caused some sort of reaction so not sure if she is allergic to something else or if she is just super sensitive to milk (they are made in a factory that uses milk rather than containing it directly). Read more about our weaning journey here.

Rolling / crawling

She is now able to roll herself around the room as well as crawl backwards. This is helped by the fact that we have laminate flooring so she can slide everywhere. However we have been away this week and the floor has carpet and she has still been able to move all over the place. She is so pleased with herself and when she catches your eye she gives a knowing grin like ‘yep, that’s right, I am mooooooving!!’

Sleeping

The 6 month sleep regression seems to have settled down now thank goodness. She tends to sleep all through the night now. There were a few nights when she woke up about 5 times and would only sleep when the dummy had been put back in. I thought I was going to go insane!

Naps in the day are irregular but that doesn’t seem to have any impact on her bedtime routine which gives me much more freedom in the day to go out and do things.

Oh another thing that actually only happened for the first time last night is that she seems to be a bit happier sleeping on her tummy. She has been rolling over in her sleep the past week or so but would wake up and cry until she was put back on her back. Last night she moaned a little but stayed asleep.
She is still using her swaddle up and her dummy for naps and sleeps as you can see in this pic!

Talking

Still no sign of any ‘dada’ or any words. She is all about the raspberries, growling and screeching. She seems to be most chatty when she is eating but otherwise she is quite quiet throughout the day. Her daddy is very quiet too, prefers to observe rather than participate so she probably gets that from him. Little G and I are the opposite and talk all the time so they won’t be able to get a word in!

Other things to note

Holding her own bottles– baby led weaning has made her want to be in control with all aspects of feeding. Just was well as my arms were almost breaking holding her to feed these days!
Waving– How cute is a baby waving?! It is a proper wave too and she knows it!
