I cannot believe where this year is going!! We have had a lot of changes this month, I feel like the 9 month baby development update was the last of the baby updates and now I am moving into toddler territory!!! Argh!!!
Feeding
Wow does she love food or what?!! I tell you I think she would just eat until she exploded if I didn’t control her portions! There is not a single thing she doesn’t like but she has got some favourites!
She loves fruit more than anything else- not sure who’s child she is as I am not a huge fan of anything besides bananas! She will happily eat a whole punnet of strawberries without pausing for breath!
We have also started her on the milk ladder- after 10 months of being dairy free we are hoping to reintroduce it slowly and hopefully she will be fine to have ‘normal’ food!! I will be documenting our journey with that so keep an eye out if you have a baby with a dairy allergy!
Crawling/ Walking
If I had written this a week ago it would have not been much of an update but she took her first steps today!! I have mixed emotions about this- part of me is excited for her as she has been wanting to walk for so long! The other part of me is so so sad- walking means she is no longer a real baby! In the not too distant future I will be a mother to two toddlers!
Here is a video of her taking her first steps!
Sleeping
We have had a great month for sleeping, touch wood it continues! As long as her night time bottle contains Gaviscon and she is well in herself then she sleeps until 7.30- 8am which is amazing! Some mornings I actually have to wake her up!
Naps are pretty consistent but she doesn’t need the routine as much now so we are able to go out and about without worrying about missing naps. Not that I ever stopped going out of the house- I don’t believe in living around a baby – they should fit in with your life. But still, you always know you may be in for a rough night if she has missed a nap!
Talking
I do not think she is going to talk for a long time. I am not sure whether it is because she has a dummy or whether she is just naturally a quiet child- maybe a mixture of both. Either way she has not really uttered a sound. I mean she has a tendency to scream in excitement but no proper words such as ‘dada’ as yet. My sister didn’t utter a sound until the day after her second birthday and she is now 22 and perfectly eloquent!
Other things to note:
- She loves music, we have sung ‘Row row your boat’ so many times she thinks that is what you have to do when music comes on. I was in Tesco the other day and she started rocking along to the store music!
- She loves putting objects into pots. Her favourite trick is to put things in the bin- rather annoying if I do not catch her at it! She also loves taking things out of boxes/ drawers. Whenever she goes into Little G’s room she empties out all of her tops from her chest of drawers!
- She has become even more clingy. I don’t know if it is because I have started work and she misses me, or whether she is just at a clingy stage in her life. I like it though as it is a stark contrast to her sister!

What a lovely post :-) We literally hit 10 months a few days ago. Wow about your sleep, ours hasn't quite recovered since it regressed in the summer. And the solids, we're still not as consistent as i'd like us to be. O the begining of walking, how special to be part of it!
Thanks for sharing ... your baby is so so cute ... to many more developmental milestones!

Thank you lovely, she is a proper monkey! Aw so you have an almost toddler too, it is frightening how fast the time goes!!! We have only become consistent with the solids in the last month or so, before that she was just throwing most of it on the floor! x

Oh she's taken her first steps! That's amazing and at an early age. Yes, that clingy strange does seem to kick in at nine months. In some ways it's lovely and makes you feel so special but at times it can get annoying - e.g. When you're cooking and they're in your way wanting a cuddle. Who am I kidding? it's always lovely!! xxx

My oldest walked at 9 months so it must run in the family! (although I was 15 months, a right lazy bones haha). I am glad she is clingy, my oldest is a cold fish so it makes a change :-)
