A Book For Bedtime - What Katy Said

A Book For Bedtime

We love reading in our house, both girls love books and always have a bedtime story as well as lots during the day. We are always on the look out for new books to add to our collection so were very excited when we were asked to review a new baby book.

book bedtime

Tuck Me In is perfect for bedtime as it takes you through tucking in baby animals. Each page has a new baby animal and you turn half a page to tuck them up for bedtime. It is quite a simple story, perfect for little ones who are not quite ready for a long story. Little G is a little past that stage now but Little L really enjoyed turning the pages and pointing to each animal.

Reading is such an important part of learning, actually it is THE most important part of learning. Reading lays the foundations to all learning and the more exposure to books a child can get, the better. As a teacher I have seen the effects on learning, with some children never being read to at bedtime.

I can clearly remember, a few years ago, asking my class who had a bedtime story every night and a little boy put his hand up and asked me what a bedtime story was- my heart broke in two. Can you imagine never reading to your children?

It only takes a few minutes a day to look at a book, even talking through the pictures will help your child understand the process of using a book. This story was perfect for Little G to read on her own and she really enjoyed reading to her Little L at bedtime- a lovely bonding moment between two siblings.

This looks like an ingenious take on the bedtime story! Rosalie and I spend a lot of time looking at books but it is Daddy who regularly does the bedtime story 🙂

Looks like a lovely story. It would be perfect for my youngest. She is a reluctant sleeper, to say the least, and the only thing that works to calm her down os a story. I can’t imagine not reading to my children. Heartbreaking that some children in your classes didn’t know what a bedtime story was.

I know, so sad isn’t it? G is going through a reluctant phase at the moment- always says she is lonely- heartbreaking!! x

Looks like a lovely book. We all love a good bedtime story in the mini beast house. Everyone gets one before bed, it’s just nice to sit and enjoy something before they drift off to sleep x

I always think it helps with their dreams, at least their imaginations while they drift off. x

Oooh I have entered. My kids both love bedtime stories, especially my youngest and she loves to make the animal noises.
Mt three year old has just started to become interested in books as well. It’s taken a long time to get him to engage but he loves being read to now 🙂

I love children’s books. This is not one I am familiar with but the content is such a good idea and the pictures look colourful and bright. I completely agree with you that it is so important to regularly read or share a book with children. Bedtime is such a wonderful opportunity to do this.#kidscorner

It is so important, I never understand why parents wouldn’t read with their child. x

I am teacher too and it always amazes me when kids say they don’t have bedtime stories. I love bedtime stories, snuggled up with my boys and listening to my oldest’s crazy questions! (I may also love it because I know that me time is soon approaching….:)!)

Books are so important! I read a lot to my daughter and I’m hoping she’ll love books as much as I do when she grows up! We’ve entered the competition as well! #kidscorner

The book sounds great – have entered to win. But your comment about the little boy who didn’t know what a bedtime story was brought a tear to my eye. How can a parent not read to their child :(. So sad. We try every night to read at least one story and if we cant for whatever reason we do it during the day instead. Its the stopping at three we have trouble with 🙂 xx #kidscorner.

Honestly I worked in such a sad school, that was just the tip of the iceberg. Needless to say I always read an extra book with him from that day forward x
