Life Lately: So Proud of My Little Girl

Wouldn’t you just love to be a fly on the wall at your child’s school? I would! I have a good idea what goes on in classrooms being a teacher myself and I specialise in the early years so have a great insight into what Little G would be up to each day. But it isn’t the same is it? I don’t know what she gets up to, who she plays with or how she behaves. Even if I spent a morning in her class it wouldn’t be the same- she would act differently with me in the room.

Parents evening is the only time you get to find out about your child and I don’t know about you but I find them nerve wracking! As I sat and waited for our name to be called, I flicked through her learning journal. It was full of snippets of work and I was bowled over by what she is doing. I have to say I am pretty lax when it comes to learning, I think it is because I see children being pushed all of the time and so don’t want to do the same at home.

Her teacher had nothing but positive things to say about my little girl and I came away as pleased as punch. My little girl is kind, considerate and making such great progress in all areas of learning. My main wish for my children though is to be happy and to have friends. I struggled at school and so I just want them to be happy each day- to hear that she gets on with everyone in her class made me smile from ear to ear!

I couldn’t let her achievements go unrewarded. Not that I necessarily believe that doing the right thing should be rewarded as such but so often children get rewards to promote good behaviour and those children who do the right thing all the time go unnoticed. Something that has been on her wishlist for absolutely ages is a My Little Pony Style and Groom Pony and so I let her have it as a mummy is super proud of you present.

Rainbow dash style and groom

When I showed her Rainbow Dash she couldn’t quite believe it. I am sometimes a little strict on her and so she was so pleased to see that her mummy was proud of her. I actually was a little mean and pretended that her teacher had said bad things and she looked so worried- I couldn’t pretend for long and gave her such a huge cuddle! I am so proud of her!

Glad you had such a positive experience at parent's evening. That's a lovely reward as well and she looks thrilled

I should try and treat her more often really although I guess it wouldn't be a treat then. x
