Time To Myself

Last week, after a discussion on my FB page, I realised I do not have enough time to myself. Or rather, I made the concious decision to do something about it! I am tired of feeling exhausted and desperately need to relax.

Immediately after this realisation I went upstairs and ran myself a bubble bath- the first one I have had in over 6 months! Normally I hop in and out of the shower crossing my fingers that the girls have not destroyed the house!!

But why do I do it to myself? Nobody has told me I am not allowed to have time on my own, in fact Mr F is always telling me to look after myself. Yet I find myself feeling drained and almost resentful at times. Things need to change and my bath was the first step.

My blog takes up a lot of my time, or I should say it has. I have made changes to my schedule which has left me with much more time every evening. No longer am I publishing 3 to 4 posts a day – quite honestly I am not even sure how I managed it for so long! I am now down to 1 a day on the whole and I have the weekends off.

Something I have been doing the last couple of nights has been colouring! Yep, you heard me right- colouring in!! I have seen so many books in the shops and the lovely Leigh has posted so many gorgeous photos of her pictures I just had to try it for myself. So. Much. Fun!!

colouring book (1)I have always enjoyed colouring but these days it is more a rushed scribble to keep up with Little G. Having my own book is really nice as I can take my time and create something really pretty.

When I first got out the book Mr F asked me what on earth I was doing and I did feel a little odd saying I was colouring for fun but you know what? I really do enjoy it! I think the fact I am concentrating on teeny tiny patterns means that I cannot fill my head with too many thoughts- meaning I truly switch off.

seahorseThis is one hobby I can see lasting, anything that is relaxing is always going to be a good thing right? I also need to make more time to do my nails and finish the book I started! One thing at a time though!!

How about you? Do you have proper me time?

I am so lucky to split time with my husband, so I deal with the kids through the day and he deals with them after 6pm meaning I get time to watch my soaps and Netflix and read x
