Our Story- Starting again…

We are almost at the end of this series, I have so enjoyed wandering down memory lane! It has reminded me what a silly girl I was back then and how lucky I am to still have Mr F in my life! If you have not been following the story so far I would love if you took a look back at the previous posts in the series.

love story

Once again I was in left in tears (not been the happiest of journeys to find love) in the last installment. Mr F had told me he didn’t think he loved me anymore and my whole world had come crashing down. As soon as morning came I rang my mum in hysterics, she says she will never forget hearing me sound so heartbroken.

I was at a loss as to what to do with myself, he had been a part of me for so long I didn’t know how to exist on my own. I am quite a pragmatic person and so quite quickly decided that I needed to buck my ideas up and live my life.

For anyone who is going through a breakup here are my top 3 things to do to get through it (from the mind of a 20 year old)

  1. Change your hair style
  2. Buy lots of new clothes
  3. Sing at the top of your voice to empowering songs

And that is exactly what I did! I had a good 15 inches cut off my hair and had it styled to look like Delta Goodrem. I thought I looked amazing, not sure I would repeat the hairstyle but it made me happy at the time. I bought loads of new clothes from Bay Trading (remember them?) and I felt amazing (boots with a fringe anyone?) and I sang at the top of my lungs to Delta Goodrem’s album ‘Mistaken Identity’. Job done.

For the first time in a very long time I knew who I was, I was someone who didn’t need a man to make me happy. I went out and made new friends, gained new confidence and got on with my degree.

But I did miss him.

He had noticed my change in attitude. He could see I was now independent and getting on without him- I don’t think he liked it much. Having time apart did us both good and one day, catching me quite unawares, he told me he had missed me too.

Delta Goodrem (not her again!) said it perfectly when she wrote:

‘You’re my butterfly- don’t fly away! Open my hands you’re free, praying you’ll come back to me.’ – Butterfly

And he did.

Come back soon for the final part of the story ‘Happily ever after…

Thanks for sharing your personal story. I still cringe at the things I said/did in relationships when I was younger!

Funnily enough yesterday I was wondering when you'd be posting the next bit of your story and here it is as if you'd read my mind. :-)

I've really enjoyed reading this series Katy. Although you've left us with a few cliffhangers along the way and I've shouted "Noooooooo!" at my computer screen a lot.
