Our Story – Happily ever after…

Katy Our Story 6 Comments

I started this series back in October, where has the time gone? Thank you to everyone who has followed our story from the beginning. You have left me some lovely comments and I have really enjoyed wandering down memory lane, even though some of the memories have been painful to recall. We have come a long way, if you haven’t been with me the whole way I would love it if you had a quick catch up!

love storyThe story left off with Mr F realising that he had missed me while we had been apart. I had found my independence through a new hair do, some new clothes and a big girl crush on Delta Goodrem!

In the spring summer of 2005 we reunited and we have been together ever since. We finished our degrees, both coming out with a 2:2 in Zoology/ Marine Zoology. How we didn’t fail with all the nonsense we went through emotionally I will never know! I decided to carry on my studies (in all honesty I didn’t know what else to do) and do a PGCE in primary education, still at Bangor university.

In the September of 2005 we moved into a cottage on Anglesey (I was just a few years off from being besties with Kate Middleton!! I shopped in her local Co-op!!). Mr F got various jobs while he waited for me to finish my year, his family thought he was mad staying up there but we didn’t want to be apart. It is also the year we got our first pet together, our beautiful house rabbit, Peter. We loved living there and took Little G there a couple of years ago to reminisce!

SL270801In the spring of 2006 Mr F moved into a flat in Chester as he had found a job working for a bank. I stayed behind in the cottage to finish off my degree which meant we had to live apart for 3 months. We drove backwards and forwards each weekend and because of our demanding timetables the time went pretty quickly. I don’t know how people manage it for longer periods of time, it was so hard not being together for a short time.

In the summer I qualified as a teacher and began my search for jobs. We loved Chester and the flat he had been living in was so lovely. It was not to be though, so few jobs around at that time and I couldn’t work in Wales as I didn’t speak Welsh so that narrowed the options even more. In the end I took a job down in Hertfordshire and because Mr F’s job was nothing wonderful he quit and followed me down south.

100_0521On the 4th April 2007 we bought our first house together, near St Albans. A 2 up 2 down terraced house in a lovely little cul-de-sac. I loved that house! We were so happy there and lovingly built our kitchen and decorated each room exactly how we wanted it. Life wasn’t too exciting, we worked full time and spent weekends with family (his living in Hertfordshire also and mine down in Sussex). We had lived life to the full while we were at uni so we were quite content being settled and spending our time snuggled on the sofa watching tv.

On Christmas morning of 2008 Mr F rolled over in bed and proposed. I had always told him I didn’t want an elaborate proposal, I just wanted it to be the two of us so for him to choose my favourite day of the year made it perfect. He produced a gorgeous 1 carat diamond solitaire ring and all I could say was ‘are you joking?’ over and over. I had guessed he was going to propose a few months before but he had been so convincing in his denial and hatred for marriage that I was truly shocked when he actually did it!

SL271850On the 14th August 2010 we got married at Sopwell House, St Albans. I had spent the past 18 months planning it and it went exactly how I wanted, it was my perfect day. I have talked more about it over on Aby’s original Share Your Wedding feature if you want to have a look. As I walked down the aisle I could only see him. Nobody else mattered, I was marrying my best friend.

On September 30th 2011 our beautiful baby girl was born. I have never known love like it as I am sure any mother reading this will understand. Some people say that having a baby will change your life, for us life didn’t change much- our life was enhanced.

When Little G was 9 months old we left our little family home to move closer to his family in Hitchin. Not that we had been far away in St Albans but we wanted to live somewhere with a town centre within walking distance. I was going to be staying home so I wanted to be somewhere with lots of things to do with Little G.

On December 15th 2013 our family was made complete with Baby L joining us to make a family of 4. They say your heart grows with each child and it is true. I love both of them equally and they are my greatest achievements. I was destined to have them both, to be Mrs F. It was all written and I just had to walk the path to get to where I am now. All of the heartbreak along the way doesn’t matter now.

I finally got my happy ever after.

Thank you so much for reading. Here’s to the future!
