I really enjoy these posts, I get to dress up, do my hair and makeup and then take it all off again without having to necessarily go anywhere haha! Getting ready has always been the best bit about going out for me, when I was at university I would take ages trying new makeup and styling my hair but wouldn’t be fussed about the actual going out part!
I haven’t been great at looking after myself since having the girls and for the past 4 years I have been a total frump and spent most days in leggings and baggy tops- I had no self confidence at all!! I don’t think I am alone it that am I? We have children and suddenly it is a struggle to brush our hair let alone style it into something amazing!
Since starting my blog and vowing to have more photos of me with the girls, I have realised how frumpy I looked and I have slowly found my way again! I will admit I still love my leggings but now I will pair them up with a gorgeous top and some heels! You heard me right- heels!!
Just because we are mothers, getting older with more responsibilities does not mean we have to lose our sense of self. I am not saying everyone has to go out of the house wearing a full face and a pair of heels but I definitely think everyone should go out feeling their best. And something I learned at a style course a few months ago still rings true in my ears- even if you go out wearing a tracksuit, make sure that tracksuit makes you feel great! Clothes should make you feel amazing and if they don’t then it is time to do a wardrobe audit!
Anyway, I am here to show you 3 ways to wear a kimono! I was so excited when New Look approached me, I live in their clothes and shoes so working with them is a dream! Looking and feeling great needn’t be difficult and they have such great clothes to suit all shapes, sizes and budgets!
So the first outfit is a daytime look, I teamed the kimono up with a white vest top and jeans. I almost wore some white pumps but then my favourite shoes in the world jumped out at me. I bought these years ago but they are so comfy and have a slight heel so add a little bit of glamour to the outfit.
This photo is a prime example of how my confidence has grown. I almost didn’t use it but then I thought how can I show a beach look if I am not dressed for the beach? So, I have teamed the kimono up with shorts and a bikini top- something I wore all the time when I was on holiday this year. Of course I had to wear my favourite hat too- it just goes with everything!
My third and final outfit is an evening look and look I have brought out my old faithfuls- my leggings. Teamed up with a pair of high heels and a black vest top it is a sexy look. I wanted to cinch in my waist too so I dug out my all-time favourite belt, just love it!
So there we are, three different looks but all make me feel great about myself which is the main thing isn’t it? Go take a look at the New Look kimonos and let me know if you find one you love- maybe tweet me a photo of your look!
Do you have a favourite key piece in your wardrobe?
I was gifted the kimono but I love New Look so all thoughts and words are my own.
