Prezzo La Famiglia Sharing Bowls

I love going out for dinner, don’t you? There is nothing better than having your food cooked for you and then not having to worry a thing about the clean-up afterwards. My absolute favourite food has got to be Italian – I cannot resist a huge pile of pasta and we have it most days of the week. Whenever we go out, I will most usually order lasagne or a creamy pasta dish and Prezzo is one of the best places to go for those.

Our local restaurant is just down the road from us and it has been a favourite of mine ever since we have been dealing with allergies in the family. They are so accommodating and have always gone out of their way to make sure everyone has exactly what they need – for a mama of allergy babies this is a real positive for me.

We were invited along last week to try out their new La Famiglia Sharing Bowls. If you haven’t seen them then basically they are enormous bowls of pasta, served to the middle of your table, with each person having a bowl to help themselves. Now, I wasn’t entirely sure how it would work – whether there would be enough, whether the options would suit everybody etc etc.. But let me tell you, we loved it!

We went for the Penne Alla Rusticana, which is chicken, pancetta, peppers and rosemary in a creamy pomodoro sauce. All of us love chicken and although my girls aren’t huge fans of peppers they didn’t even notice them hidden within the rest of the ingredients. Win!

Portion wise, my goodness there was enough to feed 6 adults I am sure of it! I had seconds (and thirds….) and everyone finished their bowls.

We had also chosen some garlic bread, to arrive with our main rather than as a starter, so by the time we were done we were almost bursting!

Besides the food being absolutely delicious, my favourite part of the whole meal was the fact that we all shared. I know half the fun of eating out is getting to choose something that is just for you, compared to normal meal times at home, but actually this was really novel and we all agreed that we’d choose a sharing bowl again. We turned off our phones and focussed on being present in the moment and it was just the loveliest evening.

We haven’t laughed so much in such a long time, everyone was just completely together. Wills was giving us plenty of laughs as he has discovered a taste for lemons but every now and then would screw up his face – funny just doesn’t cover it!

Now eating out wouldn’t be eating out without dessert – we made room for that!

If you are thinking about eating out then honestly, you need to try the Penne Alla Rusticana and I would definitely recommend trying it as a sharing bowl as it will really bring you all together – how meal times should always be.
