Pregnancy: Tips for Overcoming Morning Sickness

How awful is morning sickness? After just a couple of weeks I was feeling dreadful and I am not out of the woods yet. There are times when I sit on the sofa and literally don’t know what to do with myself. It is a bit like a terrible hangover- so queasy and nothing but sleep will make you better. I have been through it all before, my pregnancy with LJ was just as bad and I felt like it would never end.

6 Tips For Easing Morning Sickness

Over my 3 pregnancies I have picked up a few tips, so thought I would share them with you in case you are feeling like death too!

Love Hearts

I am telling you now, get yourself down to Asda and get 5 for £1- they are your best friend. Sucking on the chalky sweets really does help and you have a happy message each time too 🙂

Chewing gum

Anything minty really helps- even cleaning my teeth is a welcomed part of my day. I am not normally a fan of mint but am loving it right now.

Anti-Sickness Bands

I don’t think I could get through the day without my travel bands. I can remember the first time I put them on last time- within 5 minutes I felt almost human!

Fresh air

All I want to do is curl up on the sofa and hide from the world but unfortunately having a school age child means I have to go back and forth from school twice a day. I have found actually that this is when I feel my best. Fresh air definitely helps.

Loose Clothing

Urgh, there is nothing worse than a tight waistband when you feel sick. I am already in my maternity leggings and they are so comfy!

Sleep

The more tired I am the worse I feel. LJ woke up 8 times the other night and the following day I felt dreadful. Get your rest and it will help ease the nausea (easier said than done I know).

So, there are a few tips I have been trying over the last few weeks. I still feel rough but 100 times better than I would be without these tips. I cannot wait for these weeks to be behind me although I am well aware that there are more struggles to come. Heartburn anyone?

Have you got any tips for beating morning sickness?

Ginger really helped me too! Ginger snaps, ginger chews, ginger tea.... And saltine crackers.

I used to drink ginger which I bought from a health foods shop and also ginger build hits helped me! My sickness was always at 2pm and I was teaching so the last 2 hours was the toughest!
