Our Trip To IKEA

Do you know, it has been 16 years since my last trip to IKEA? How mad is that? I am not sure why I have never been as an adult but probably mainly due to the fact they are never local are they? Our nearest is almost an hour away, so much easier to go somewhere else isn’t it?

On Wednesday I decided we would jump in the car with my mum and drive to Milton Keynes to buy some of those spice racks to use as book shelves. You must have seen them on Pinterest, such a clever idea and it would be great for Little G’s room- for her to have them by her bed so she can keep her favourite stories near (rather than shoved down the side of her bed guard!!).

We arrived nice and early and as we got out of the car we realised all three of us were wearing blue, yellow or both! Total coincidence I assure you- I am not that crazy! I was so excited, bit like a child in a sweet shop! We grabbed two of their nifty bag trollies and headed up to the showroom.

Why have I not been in 16 years??

I think I am a little bit in love with the place if I am honest. I love that you are herded like sheep around the showroom. Little G also loved following the arrows and had a bit of a moment when my mum walked the wrong way! Slight ocd tendencies that one!

Both girls love the kid’s section, we spent ages looking at it all and getting very hands on!

Now you may think me weird but I totally loved the trolley for carrying your lunch tray! How clever is that? Didn’t have the meatballs, much to Mr F’s horror – I went for the carrot and coriander soup- yum!

After our lunch it was time to go and pick up everything we had seen! Hurrah! Now unfortunately due to the business going on in Calais they are out of stock of the spice racks! However, I did manage to spend a small fortune and came home with 2 massive chests of drawers, a rug and a jug! Mr F wasn’t very impressed haha!!

ikea trolleyAs I write this I am absolutely broken after building both chest of drawers myself. I am far too impatient to wait for Mr F to help me – thank goodness for an electric screwdriver though!

I will be sharing our bedroom makeover in the coming months but I am absolutely in love with the drawers and am dragging Mr F back to IKEA in the not too distant future to see what else I can get!!

Do you love IKEA too?

Yes! I love it and I can't believe you waited for 16 years to go. The girls have the same drawers & beds in both rooms from the Henmes range. Confession - I even went to the Murcia one in Spain on my recent travels ha! X
