Designing Our Master Bedroom

We have lived in our home for almost 4 years now and have almost finished each room (I say almost finished but you know what it is like, they never actually get totally finished do they??). However, there is one room that has been completely ignored since the day we moved in- our bedroom. Our priorities were the main living areas and the girls’ rooms but now it is time to focus on our space!

The room itself is a good size and has inbuilt wardrobes on one side of the room. However, the decor and the furnishings are, quite honestly, disgusting. I want to be able to walk into my bedroom and feel as though I am in my own personal sanctuary, a place to be calm and relaxed after a busy day.

I have been pinning lots of ideas and have a picture in my mind of what I would like it to look like. I want neutrals and a minimalist look to give the illusion of space and serenity.

The main focus is going to be the bed, it takes up most of the room and therefore needs to look gorgeous. The bed itself is lovely, being a white metal frame with brass finials on each corner. I need to dress it up a bit more with some texture- this bedding set from Tesco Direct looks perfect!

I also want to have plenty of scatter cushions (Mr F will be thrilled as you can imagine!). I am going to have to have another look on Pinterest to copy an arrangement!

The next thing I want to buy are a pair of bedside drawers. I like the idea of having tables but the reality is I have a lot of rubbish to hide so need drawers! I really like this sort of style, carrying on the neutral theme.

The biggest project is going to be trying to upcycle our built in wardrobes. They are currently a dark pine colour (you know the orangey colour) and have door handles missing. I want to use the frame but add in some extra shelves and replace a couple of doors, painting the rest a white or cream colour to tie in with the rest of the room.

The whole room is going to be a huge project but I am really looking forward to it!
