Worried Your Holiday Is Going To Suck? It Won’t If You Plan It Properly

Inside: How to plan a great holiday. Collaborative post.

Are you going to be heading out on holiday soon? That’s super exciting, and something that might be causing you new levels of stress at the same time. We’re sure that you have heard about some of the nightmares that people have had with their travels in the past, and this may have set you on edge about your own.

Or, perhaps you yourself have had a travel nightmare that you would rather forget, and you’re worried that this is going to happen all over again.

We can’t blame you for being cautious, and it’s exactly that which just might help you to make this next trip amazing. In this article, we’re going to be taking a look at some of the different things that you should do to ensure that you are able to have an amazing time away with your family.

Not sure where to start? This is the post for you!

Work Out Your Budget

First thing that you need to do is sit down and work out your budget. It doesn’t matter how much money you have, unless you are so rich that you don’t need to even consider the cost. This is not reality for most people though, so it’s important that money is something that you are taking into account.

You need to work out how much money you have to spend on this holiday as a whole. This is going to include flights, accommodation, anything that you do while you are there, money for food and other spending money that you are going to need. It’s a lot, and it’s going to cost you a lot no matter where you go, but working out exactly how much you have will allow you to stay within your price range.

Once you’ve set your budget you can then start looking online to see what is available. You may be pleasantly surprised about what can fit into your budget, so just make sure that you don’t go overboard and things should be absolutely fine.

Decide On A Destination

Once you’ve decided on your budget, you can then get started searching for your destination. It might take some time to find somewhere that you would love to go that fits into your budget, but sometimes you’ve got to compromise a little. If you love to travel, then the destination shouldn’t matter too much, because you are getting to see somewhere new and that should satisfy your lust for travel.

If you are struggling to pick somewhere, then perhaps leaving it to chance is the better option. A lot of people find it really hard to decide on somewhere new to go as they are afraid of getting it wrong, so maybe you should let life guide you.

One of the ways that you can do this is to get a globe, spin it and then put your finger on it to stop it. Wherever your finger lands, that’s the place that you should go on your next adventure. If it’s somewhere that you have already been, you can either go back there and take it as a sign, or you can do this again.

Sort Out Packing Lists

Packing lists can be an absolute nightmare. There are so many things that you need to get, there are so many things that you need to organise and it can be a pain in the behind trying to get them all sorted…but you have to find a way to do this anyway.

Have your kids go through all of their clothes and items and write a list of anything that they are going to need for the trip. Ensure that you are checking this and that they’re not just trying to use this as an opportunity to get some more clothes! Do the same for you and your partner, or just you depending on who is going on this trip.

When you’ve got everything sorted, you need to make a list of what needs to go into each suitcase. When you add something to the suitcase, you need to tick it off the list so that you know what is in there, and you don’t have to panic in a few hours that you have missed something out. You can simply look at the list and see if it has been ticked off, and if it has then you have already put it in there.

Decide On Activities To Do

There are a lot of people who like to just do whatever finds them when they are away, and we think that this is a lovely idea. You never know what you are going to find, you never know what is going to jump out at you and you don’t want to be tied down the entire trip.

However, there are certain things that you are going to need to book in advance if you want to do them, and it’s imperative that you get them as early as possible to avoid disappointment.

You can use sites like hellotickets.co.uk or other websites to find and purchase tickets for activities beforehand. This way, you can be completely comfortable knowing that you have got the tickets that you need for your trip and nobody is going to be disappointed.

Yes, it might take some of the adventure out of things, but it is one thing that will 100% ensure you get to do all of the things you want to do, and nobody is leaving feeling as though they missed out on anything.

Listen To Everyone’s Ideas

Don’t forget that you are not the only one who is going on this trip. Some people get a little carried away with the things that they want to do, and they forget that there are other people going as well. You need to listen to the things that other people want to do, ensuring that you are including every single person on this trip so that there is something for everyone.

We know that sometimes this isn’t easy, but it is possible and if you don’t take the time to do this, then you’re going to find that there is someone who thought that this trip sucked.

Don’t Put Too Much Pressure On It

One of the problems that a lot of people have is that they put too much pressure on the trip and it ends up being a disaster because everyone was stressed. This is the last thing that anyone needs, and it’s going to be a nightmare if you don’t get your stress under control.

When you get too stressed about something and you treat it like it’s going to be a make it or break it trip, you’re going to unknowingly make it worse than you would if you were just chilled out and relaxed. Sure, it’s easier to say than do, but you’ve got to do your best otherwise you’re going to be a stress head the entire time.

Not only are you not going to be able to enjoy the trip, but if you’re not careful you may end up taking it out on those that you love by accident.

Apply For Travel Documents In Advance

Something that you absolutely must do is apply for travel documents way in advance so that they can get there on time. The last thing that you need is to get to the morning of your travels, only to find that someone is missing a visa or a passport or something else that they need.

If you don’t have one of these then you are not going to be able to go on your holiday as whatever is missing will prevent one or all of you from getting to your destination. This would be a nightmare as it would mean that the entire trip would need to be cancelled, and that is not what you want because that really would suck.

When you’re looking into what travel documents you need, just ensure that you have applied for them all for every person that is travelling. It might take you a while to get this done, but you will get there as long as you are patient. While it might be a long process, that doesn’t mean that you can try to skip it because if you do, that’s where you’re going to find problems arise and your trip is in danger.

So, there you have it then! These are some of the things that you should constantly be thinking about when it comes to getting your holiday right. We know that it’s hard, and we completely understand why you’re nervous.

Whether you’ve had a bad experience in the past, or other people’s bad experiences are enough to make you panic, hopefully you won’t be having one of these on your travels. Remember, the more that you put into something, the more that you are going to get out more often than not. We know that you can plan an amazing trip, and we know that you know it too. Good luck, we hope you have an amazing time
