Inside: What Could Be Hiding In A Messy Home?. Collaborative post.
A messy home can feel like a curse sometimes. As much as you clean it on a weekly basis, somehow all the clutter just builds up again! But seeing as you’ve got limited time and energy to keep your home clean, don’t feel you have to take it all on at once. As such, you’ll want to target these problem areas one at a time. After all, something unusual could be hiding under the mess, and you’ll certainly want to dig them all out!
A Potential Allergy Attack
Are you prone to allergy attacks? Maybe you get pretty bad hayfever during the spring and summer? Perhaps there’s always an allergy pill in the cupboard somewhere, but it feels like they’re getting less and less effective? That could be because of mess within the home.
It’s why dusting is a particularly important activity to include in your weekly clean. If you’re not one for getting a duster and polish out, or you haven’t seen the tops of the bookcases since you built them there, it’s time to plan an attack of your own!
If need be, put on a disposable mask, get a step ladder, and then dust all the high, hard to reach areas as soon as you’re able to.
Look for Signs of Pests
Pests can hide in every corner of your home, and a lot of them are there without you ever noticing. Spiders, for example, make themselves at home in our houses and eat up all the other bugs that make their way in. And that’s a good thing for us – it means less flies, moths, and even silverfish. But with a mess that’s evermounting, other pests could be hiding under the pile.
These are the kinds of pests that you don’t want in your house, such as ants, wasps, and termites. Without investigating, you’ll never know if you’ll have to call in a termite control service! So head to the quietest and darkest areas of your property to see if you can find signs of such critters. You’ll see remnants of nests, droppings, and you may even see the little things out in the open.
You Might Just Find a Hidden Treasure
The more you keep a home tidy, the easier it is to find things. We all know that, but in reality, this is a much harder principle to practise! And when you think about weekly cleaning duties, you don’t tend to put rooms like the garage or the attic top of the list.
But if you add either of these rooms to your list for this one week, you might just find a hidden gem or two. Maybe some sentimental items you thought you’d lost, that you’d love to display? Or maybe something you can sell for extra cash – both would be welcome!
A bit of mess is something you have to live with, and that’s absolutely fine! But a mountain of it can be harmful to health and wellbeing.
