I am loving weaning, it is such a fun stage, introducing Wills to new flavours and textures. He is loving it too and has tried so many new things over the last few weeks – most have been a hit besides potato which he absolutely hated! I am going to do a mix of purees and baby-led weaning and will use a mix of ready-made and home-made throughout the process – as a mum of 3 I need ease!
We were sent a few bits and bobs from the Oxo Tot feeding range and we’ve been using them over the last few weeks. The handiest thing has been the Mash Maker as I can pop absolutely anything inside and it will mash it up to make a puree for him.
At the moment we are still at the fruit and veg stage so I am just cooking and mashing those up for him. His favourite the last few days has been parsnips and sweet potato but something he is not so keen on, as you’ll see from these photos, is broccoli.
I have been cooking up batches of different veg and freezing them ready to defrost when we need. Their freezer trays are fairly deep and long, fitting in enough for one meal per section – perfect for their little appetites.
I know from experience you need to try them a few times on different flavours before they might like something, so I won’t give up on broccoli just yet!
Oxo Tot have so many brilliant products, we had some of their toddler feeding bowls when Lils was a baby – their snack cup is so handy to stop spills! Everything in the range echos the philosophy from Oxo as a brand – “innovative consumer products that make everyday living easier”. That is what we want as parents isn’t it?

I love Oxotots products, I have the spoon and it's been the most sturdy, ergonomic thing I've used for a baby. I love the mixer for making puree, although I didn't bother with many purees this time round. It's good to have something in the freezer for emergencies though and those trays are perfect, they're better than ice cube trays.

Once he is on foods like spag bol etc I will be using it to mush up whatever we are eating too - so handy! x

Ok that Mash Maker is pure genius! It's the perfect little baby portion of food & it pureed the broccoli so nicely. I wish I had known about this when my kiddies were babies. My gadget is much bigger & it was hard to puree a small amount as the food would just fly out to the edges & not get mixed nicely.

We used a massive contraption with the girls - utter carnage in the kitchen - this is so much easier! x

The mash maker sounds great for those early weaning days! I used a hand blender but I found it a bit of a nightmare to clean, and really worked best if you were doing large quantities. My little guy loves broccoli now, with salmon generally! He's just turned 1 though so he's had lots of practice with it ;)

Ah yes I think we have a hand blender somewhere but it never really gets the lumps out. x

I did baby led weaning with mine and he still has a 'brocolli' face! Really isn't a fan. The trays are great. Oxo Tot have some great products.

How exciting that you are now on the Weaning journey. We do baby Led Weaning and at first he wasn't a fan of broccoli, but since I've started putting it on a fork for him to take off me he eats two florets!
The blender looks amazing. We blended for about two weeks before I got frustrated and gave up!

I will gradually move over to baby led as he gets older - hopefully he'll take to broccoli then! x
