Autumn is by far the best season for styling the home, for me anyway. I love making the home cosy and warm, snuggling under a blanket and watching a classic movie on dvd. Over the last few years I have tried to change the decor each season, to bring in different textures to suit the colours and themes of the month in question.
Autumn brings the warm colours, the burnt oranges, reds and browns. It paves the way for Christmas, which is a whole new style in itself isn’t it? It also brings with it the fantastic props from nature- conkers and pine cones! I love to create a centre piece for our dining table and have them scattered on window sills.
Flowers are an easy way to bring colour into a home, I have never really thought about using them at this time of year- naturally leaning towards them in the spring and summer months. Look at these gorgeous colours though, they instantly give an autumnal vibe to the room.
This year though I want to change the feel of the room completely. Something I love to do is look online for inspiration. I am not imaginative myself so being able to look at photos and recreate a look is so much easier than trying to think of my own style! I don’t really know what I want to do yet but I know that I want to bring warmth.
One thing I have been on the look out for is a throw for the sofa, something fluffy and warm. I already jazzed up the cushions with different textures earlier in the year but I want to add some colour for autumn I think. We have a very neutral room and I am bored- I want browns and oranges!
I want to walk into the room and instantly feel warm and cosy, I want it to look inviting! Wish me luck!
Do you change your home to suit the seasons?

Throw some conkers on your window sill and you are half way there :-) x
