Style Guide: Feeling Glam At The Blognix Retreat

This weekend I took myself off very early Saturday morning and drove a little over an hour to a gorgeous hotel near Northampton. It isn’t often I get to spend time just for me so I was really excited to have a whole two days of relaxation. Of course I wasn’t just going away to relax but to meet up with some lovely bloggers and find inspiration from various speakers. It is my birthday next week and so when I heard about Blognix and saw that it fell near my birthday, I decided to treat myself. Let’s be honest, having kids means I never get a full sleep let alone a lie-in, so it was the perfect birthday present!

I had an exciting email a couple of weeks ago asking whether I would like to take a look at the current Kaleidoscope occasionware range. I love their clothes (and their home range too) so thought it would be the perfect excuse to find an outfit to wear to dinner on the Saturday night.

I chose a gorgeous floral skirt, a bow detail top and a satin bolero. The skirt isn’t something I would normally go for but it jumped out at me and I was feeling brave. When it arrived I did worry I would look a little overdressed but on the night I felt so glamorous – I knew I had made the right choice.

I shared a room with the lovely Leigh (Headspace Perspective) and she very kindly took some photos of me just before we sat down to dinner. Such a lovely venue, it felt like we were at someone’s wedding – the outift would be perfect for such an occasion too!

Everyone commented on the skirt, I was really glad I had been brave enough to go for a bold print. Sadly it won’t fit me for too much longer, you can already see my bump showing. However, I will be putting it away ready for next spring, definitely something to wear again and again.

I will be writing more about the retreat once I have had time to internalise everything I have learned. I certainly left feeling inspired!
